One thing I do disagree with Ross on is the point he makes about the company needing to give 2 years notice before they shut off a game as not being good enough. To be entirely honest I suspect a lot of companies would want to avoid making public statements like "We will shut off the game 2 years from now" because it gives an enormous amount of time to A) reverse engineer it and B) for the press to continuously write articles reminding them it's happening. They could also run into an issue where the game flops and they have to keep it going for 2 years. It might be enough to save some (but not all) of these games from being carelessly shut off permanently.

Am I crazy or there had already been a pinned message about SKG a while back?
Not sure about stopkillinggames but if Null has ever highlighted this thread I genuinely don't remember it. He didn't highlight it for the mana gem, or for the lyricwulf accusations, or anything until now unless I'm forgetting something. Spite is a powerful motivator.

Ross made a thirty minute long response to PirateSoftware as a part of his most recent report on his campaign.

Edit: Local copy of his 30 minute rant about PirateSoftware only.
Where the fuck did PirateSoftware even come from? It feels like he got super popular out of nowhere last year. What entitles him to be such a smug fag?

This guy is the epitome of everything I hate in online discourse. This guy's opinions and commentary have no depth beyond "This is shit. This is ass. This is dogshit. This makes me angry. I hate this. I am upset. I am like actually upset. I want to see this fail." This kind of empty "argumentation" where the focus is on piling on as many negative or vulgar adjectives as possible to something is utter cancer to any genuine discussion.

He has no understanding of what the movement is about, he just knows that other people are talking about it and he MUST have an opinion, and his opinion must be the ONLY correct one because in his mind he has never been wrong ever. He feels entitled to be as hostile, smug, and cattily aggressive as possible because he thinks he's always right and everyone against him must be stupid and wrong. He actively revels in the fact that he'll never allow anyone to change his mind or have an open dialogue because he already convinced himself he's 100% correct logically and morally.

I hope this campaign meets its goal and surpasses it just so this obnoxious furfag has to cope and seethe for the rest of his days that he wasn't able to use whatever power or clout he had to kill the movement.

Ross clearly needed a strategist and/or someone who could speak on his behalf to shitlords like this faggot. If he was smart he would have been trying to get signal-boosted by people like Mutahar and MoistCr1itikal from the start. He also should have eviscerated this cunt from the start because it would have been justified and helped his campaign.
Ross' analogy of YouTube influences being modern greek gods was remarkable to me, because it is so fitting to that current, modern day (internet) feeling that success doesn't lie in your own hands anymore. It really doesn't even matter if you speak truth, have talent or do good things, what really matters is what the members of a certain cabal think of you.
Yes, this is how it has always worked. There is no bottom-up, grassroots anything. Ross's mistake was thinking this campaign needed to be targeted at all gamers and the public more generally. The correct target was people with influence over the general public, as it always is if you want to change anything.

He abused the Shorts system on YouTube. He basically took 30 seconds bits from his streams, single questions from his chat, etc. and posted them as shorts, spamming the website with them. Then it only took normies to see his "wholesome internet advice dad" persona and now he's being held in high regard as this "super experienced ex-Blizzard dev". I mean this image is slowly crumbling over the last year or so, but still.

I personally think they should just be forced to release server binaries when they drop support for the game. That Call of Duty Plutonium project was pretty cool, as was that Halo revival project prior to the Master Chief Collection releasing (it was called ElDewrito I believe which is a lol tier name). I agree that the company shouldn't be forced to support their shit forever. They should just open it up and allow anyone to run a server so communities start like they do around all those nearly dead Source games. Same goes for shit with activation servers. If you don't have a server to activate your software it should just become freeware.

So he's a product of short-form content brainrot? That makes a lot of sense.

youtube shorts are like THE easy way to get popular on youtube, just spam them out daily, and within a few months you have loads of subscribers.

i feel it would've never passed the corrupt EU

While I appreciate your cynicism, the EU has been instrumental in changing global tech standards for consumer benefit.

GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation)

The Cookie Law (now the DMA / DSA act; I think they were merged for convenience)

EU Common Charger Directive (USB-C Mandate; the one that fucked Apple over)

He discovered how YouTube's algorithm favours certain content and abused it. He took Asmongold's advice of "exploit early, exploit often", despite him being vocally opposed to the idea, and shoved his fucking face into everyone's timeline. He's the Jim Jones of gamedev.

As much as i fully support the stop killing games beliefs, as much as i beg all my euro friends to support and sign it, and to the point i ever prayed to god for this to succeed for something good to happen in the world, i feel it would've never passed the corrupt EU, considering they're all WEF puppets anyway even if Ross got his 1 Million votes needed. Nigger software was kneeling on this movement to begin with, but i feel deep down the EU would never pass this, and that's depressing that there is no goverment on this planet that values archiving media like video games, and treat them like the art form they truly are. Moral of the story, fuck the WEF puppeted EU, fuck nigger software, and may we pray that this movement can come back stronger than ever, maybe by then the EU/USA goverment will be full of people that understand video games and the need to archive/protect them, along with basic consumer rights being the norm. (i hope and i pray, and sorry if i sound too much like a doomer)
EU only passes shit if it means they can siphon money from big corpos

I have to be honest and say that I am/was also to a small degree apathetic, which is hypocritical on my part. But I am unbelievably lazy, so that is another reason. I assume there a some people like me who would sign the initiative but haven't done so.

Before any of Jason's dogshit egotistical behavior hit the mainstream I immediately clocked him as a massive midwit loser from this line on his website

Itch.io has more customizability than any other site but unfortunately lacks in the discoverability department. You will definitely be leading most people to find your page here but when they do... oh my science... it will be gorgeous. I mean... just look at ours in the link there. You can also sell Steam keys through Itch.io as yet another source of income to pretty great effect. If you want a fancy and beautiful store front to run your sales through then this is the site for you.

"Oh my science" is a turn of phrase specifically used by retarded faggots, no exceptions.

The website as a whole annoys the fuck out of me because it's phrased as if it's coming from an accomplished indie dev, when all he's got under his belt is a game you'd see in a fucking game jam, and an RPG that's being developed at a snails pace and will likely never be finished. He's at square one talking like he's passed the finish line.

Indeed, americans love to shit on Europe and laugh at it, but a lot of the good laws getting passed around are because of the EU when it comes to this kind of thing. Instead of shitting on each other we should be united in shitting on our governments when they go full retard, but that never seems to be the case. It always ends up with us vs them mentality shit, kinda like this Bitchdavius over here

It's literally less than a minute to do so, stop being a lazy faggot and actually take a minute to represent your interests.
"Oh my science" is a turn of phrase specifically used by retarded faggots, no exceptions.
Holy shit, that's just a meme people use to make fun of this kind of retard and he actually quotes it verbatim

Because I'm not a thread regular and I had to let out a hearty chuckle when I saw a petition named "Stop Killing Games"? Seriously, I'd love to see the people who signed it. Probably lots of chubby euromutt neckbeards there. Good thing the petition is in Europe and not in USA, otherwise we would have millions of failed-to-launch manchildren signing it by now.
I wish there was a USA petition, i'd sign that in a heartbeat, and if its the "millions" of "manchildren" like you'd claim, then it'd be passed with no effort whatso ever.

Buncha poofs ragging on me. I don't support PirateSoftware. I don't care about this kindergarten rivalry between two adult men and I don't know why you assumed I did. I only read about the petition, not the legendary 10 year rivalry between the two titans of YouTube that only autistic balding men know about. I'm not willing to read wordswordswords about this pointless Gamergate-tier shitfest that nothing will ever come out of. The idea of the petition is gay, that's what I'm saying. For some reason you kiwifags are acting awfully like leftists today, with these radical leaps of logic. Does this really have to be a "with us or with them" thing?
First off, its not even a fucking petition.

Second off, cope seethe mald dilate
Retardation.

At least you are introspective, unlike a certain malding guy

An US petition sadly seems entirely infeasable.
