I had spare ad credits and wanted to play with it to see what happens.

For the record, no relation to Ross, no relation to any of his campaigns, this is something I did mostly because I can, I want to, and I like experimenting.

Yeah, I think the QR code is a really smart idea, and if it isn't, maybe a stopkillinggames.com URL somewhere is. I wonder if the Stop Killing Games line might not need to be asserted more strongly if you just remove the "peititon" at the top of the clipboard and size up the "Stop Killing Games" text? I think it's implicitly understood by the rest of the context that it's a petition, and that'd let that aspect of the art also communicate the idea.

Edit: the picture is larger than I thought, it's probably fine even if you don't do that. But yeah, I think the black box is a bit noisy.
I agree, the petition is unnecessary. It's implied at this point.

Great work regardless, don't take anything I say about it as insult.

His hijinks seem to be making it back to the InfoSec community. He responds trying to explain malware to one of the industry leaders on malware research and archiving.

Original Thread:

My favorite part though:

You can read about them on Wikipedia of all places.
This is the most hilarious exchange I've ever seen. You can really see the Wikipedia surface level knowledge spew out of Jasons limited mind hence he had the links ready at a moments notice to show off how real and what a true infosec expert he is. Too bad that even while skimming through Wikipedia he made some mistakes such as speaking of "non-volatile" memory which just means your memory keeps the data after you shut off the power. Call it semantics but it's retarded either way and would rarely if ever happen to an actual expert.

While the surface level facts are totally okay the way he uses these terms just doesn't make any sense or rather isn't usual. VXU's reply also screams of ChatGPT but I'm not too sure about their involvement in modern research so there's a chance it's actually someone who can just very eloquently explain complex matters while using em—dashes. It beats Jason's wiki knowledge for sure tho be it AI generated or actually real.

MIGHT be good to strip the current petition design and just put "stop killing games" in bigger text, the "do your part" shoved left, and a big ass QR code. Clearer, less noise, conciser. Being concise is whats big here, let any dumbass figure it out in 2 seconds.

i massaged Ross on twitter and im going to sleep if you wanna take a crack at it heres assets, be my guest
@DefinitelyNotMe just fyi he already said ANYONE can use the SKG logo anywhere AS LONG as you aren't trying to like, sell tshirts or some grifty ass shit. (basically don't SELL it)

Hes already confirmed this.

As for posting it, hes fine if you post it, but maybe share it in the discord so EVERYONE can share it. He doesn't necessarily want to manage EVERY single thing, hes juggling enough. You're good.

Both were said in his recent Q/A stream pretty explicitly

I might also recommend, ONCE ITS FINISHED, post this onto the steam forums as art for postal 2 / 4 since RWS has expressed approval of the movement, AND its postal themed. They will like it

Can I just remind everyone that Ross is literally the most innocent, honest, well intended, man on the internet? I swear he's the second coming of Christ but he fell on his head when he was a child and forgot he was the the Son of Man.
The appeal I see in him is that he's a really early-internet personality. You don't get the sense that he's someone who aspired to being a big Youtube channel, with a ten year plan to build it into a business, hire people, and turn into an economic juggernaut and then tried to curate the best persona for that role and mold himself into it, you get the sense that he's just some shut-in dork who likes a thing and wants to share it with people elsewhere in the world, come what may.

Stop Killing Games now has 650K and looks like it will reach the deadline within 4 days.

Fuck you jason.

On another note it is incredibly easy for even a retard like mald to set up a bass boost and EQ compressor through his stream to change his audio and im certain that you can do that shit even on some microphones. Funny how these guys never spend money to get real voice training or to improve themselves despite how much money they rake in but what can you expect from them right?

Ross posted an update Q/A video if anyone missed it

Edit: Made a local archive clip

YT Link

Ross was specifically asked during his Q&A whether he would interview about his campaign and the recent drama with Null/USIPS/Kiwifarms/MATI. It was brought to his attention that his SKG campaign and recent drama were being featured heavily on the site.

He talked around in circles like he does for everything, but essentially said "No" without saying "No".

Said he personally would talk to anyone, but was being "strategic" with the homestretch of his SKG signature campaign and didn't want to associate the campaign with anyone controversial. Talked about he's at a phase where he is actively talking directly to EU politicians/officials.

Ross claimed not to know much about KF other than that they have a reputation for phonebooking. Is worried that people on his side would drop out if he associated with KF.

He acknowledged that KF's reputation might not be factual or earned, but admitted that it's veracity or whether it was simply smears didn't actually matter or concern him because in the end KF's public perception is all that matters wrt their association with his campaign.

Ross was asked about lots of potential interviews and crossovers. He was fairly exasperated and discriminating with most of the suggestions. He talked about only being interested in YT creators with hundreds of thousands of subs for reach, since only 15% of their audience would likely be eligible for new EU signatures.

He said it's futile to interview with small creators because he is too busy and the reach isn't there. He also wasn't interested in interviewing with creators whose audience overlaps too much with his own.

He was mostly interested in dedicated gaming channels and consumer/legal focused ones. Mostly because he felt live service game preservation was too esoteric to most normies to care about.

He was most intrigued in getting coverage from Legal Eagle, though it seemed purely like a suggestion with no groundwork.

Ross also seemed very done with the campaign. He talked about not taking part in future campaigns if this fails, just wanting for this to be over one way or another even if this bombs and moving on to talk and complain about things that were more fun.

During today's Q&A, Ross was asked about using the SKG branding logo.

He said he was fine with both supporters and opponents using the logo online within reason.

Ross just essentially said supporters can't monetize it by putting it on T-shirts & merch.

QR codes are one of the most insecure ways to spread information digitally. They're the stupidest thing since Bluetooth. They can contain malicious redirects, tracking in transit, fingerprinting, list goes on.
Or they can be generated to match a plain link 1 to 1.
Besides you can say the same about any shortened link, do people have apps that just rawdawg open QR codes on the spot? Even google lens shows you the link before doing anything.

I went through some snippets featuring him talking and it sounds about right when I unhook and put the audio pitch at 115%.
I get the impression he's a fag doing a half bruce springsteen half morgan freeman impression. It's more evident if you remove the lower half of the notched spectrum entirely.

Then he cuts out the frequencies that make the vocal fry most obvious (the frequency range humans tend to be most sensitive to overall...) and occasionally says things breathily like "a bit too much about computers". You can hear him slip out of the fry at times like when he giddilly calls himself a "big nerd" and his normal voice comes out.

a lil optimistic but I love the spirit. We'll be lucky if we get there in the full 30 days.

You’re relying entirely on your scanner app’s behaviour, which varies a lot between devices and users. QR codes can also encode more than just URLs: saved WiFi connection SSIDs and passwords, vCards, SMS, digital wallets, app perms.

do people have apps that just rawdawg open QR codes on the spot

It's more common than you realise. Scamming is the largest cybersec risk globally.

Your code shows nothing when I scan it buddy.

Case in fucking point.
