You can get by with bad code on small, throwaway projects, but past a certain size it is night impossible to add or remove anything without breaking some random piece of code you might have written months ago. Even if he was a God-tier coder it would be a hard to maintain codebase.

I remember a while back he said on stream something to the effect of "you don't need optimized code for your game" and showed examples of games like Undertale not having the most technically sound code. One could give him the benefit of the doubt and say he's just trying to push people to make something, instead of quitting trying to learn best practices. But even then it comes off as very naive and immature, as if he's still only a junior with very little experience.

His constant bragging about having worked at Blizzard is also something that struck me as immature, idolizing game devs is something that happens in college. But once you're in that kind of job it's just another job. I happen know people who have worked at Blizzard, they don't jerk themselves off about it because it's not some insane job, and if they're any good they've likely worked at multiple other Blizzard level companies.

In conclusion, Jason was most likely an employee of a private company which had a contract with the DOE and not a federal contractor. His claim of working for the government at best is embellishment to make himself more credible or at worst an outright fabrication. If he truly worked for the DOE why is the company that had the contract listed and not the DOE itself? Why is he claiming that the DOE came to him with a job offer after he won his 3 DEF CON black badges when it contradicts with the timelines on his own LinkedIn?

This is entirely consistent with his other lies. He doesn't say something that's completely false, he exaggerates or creatively interprets the fuck out of something that did technically happen.

For example, I've said to friends that I'm working for (well-known company A) on a major project, when in technicality I'm working for a partner company B to accomplish said project for A. I don't remember my exact wording, it might have been less misleading than I remember, but it was just way quicker to say the bit that I knew he'd understand all the pieces of instantly, not to mention I do have an NDA so I wanted to be picky about what I said. Point is, that's the sort of lie he tells... the sort of lie the evidence supports, as long as you don't look too closely at it.
