People always bring up the story about his teacher telling him that old "If you do something you love you'll never work a day in your life." adage that he swears to live by to this day. I think although he would never say it out loud, another adage he takes way too literally is "Fake it till you make it." If he says all this shit has happened and he's done all these things eventually someone will believe him and all the pieces will just fall into place. Oh, and it has to be something cool of course. Particularly something a 15 Year old boy would think was cool.
A great example of this would be in one of his recent streams someone asks him about paintball. He goes on a tangent about how paintball is too expensive and he can't because painted his mask and it's now a "DJ mask" whatever that means. He then immediately goes on a tangent about airsoft, and how he would totally do that and is great at airsoft. On YouTube there is a massive airsoft community and I would bet money he watches that stuff.
They spend tons of money on airsoft guns that are modeled on real firearms and military surplus gear and uniforms.
It's all very LARPy but, they edit their videos like a war movie and more importantly they like to insert the hit markers and sound effects from call of duty whenever they hit someone. I guess it's practical. I assume it's pretty difficult to catch a tiny white BB hit a guy dressed in a ghillie suit in the middle of the woods on a GoPro.
You can see how to someone like Chance this would be very appealing, he would get to take a bunch of pictures of himself posing with other people dressed up like a soldier and holding a gun that from a distance looks real. He would also get to "totally play COD in real life guys" and have content that he could upload to YouTube that would usually get tons of views and be monetizable. Some buddy troll in the chat then brings up some bullshit about knowing someone in the community and Chance lights up saying "let's talk I need to make money off this see if they can hook me up with some sponsorships, let's get this off the ground. Call me up brotha."
Chance has more than likely never played airsoft on a hobbyist basis in the backyard with friends. Why on earth would he immediately get sponsored by some company and jump into professional matches? Why, because he said he has of course! No proof needed. Now, I've never personally played airsoft but it looks pretty damned expensive, I have however played paintball and know it's not that expensive to go rent a marker and mask and play for an afternoon. I also know Ed owns a paintball marker and that paintballs can hurt if you get hit in the right spots, probably a lot more than little plastic BBs when you're decked out like your about to invade Iraq or some shit. So that probably also has something to do with it considering how fragile he is.

It's hilarious to imagine him trying. Let's set aside the fact that he wouldn't even be able to pass the ASVAB test or the health requirements to get enlisted. In an alternate universe where he didn't have those hinderances, he would still never make it through boot camp in any branch. Chance would say a bunch of stupid shit that would make everyone hate him instantly. He would do everything wrong. He would be jerking it at night. He would break rules constantly. He would get himself and everyone around him punished all the time. He wouldn't be able to keep his area clean and pass inspections. He would do some dumb shit with weapon exercises. He wouldnt bathe properly. He would get washed back until they kicked him out. Realistically, he would be the kind to quit out the first day.
