It's literally just the hijab. It's a godsend for women who hate their own bodies.

Travelling to Syria is frightening but there must also be a different fear that is being awakened in Salah as this all unfolds. The reality that he has hooked up with a grade A clinger and stalker who will follow him to the ass end of the world to be with her dream of a huzzbund. No separations will be far enough, no break ups will be permanent. The Gunt is his now forever and ever till death do they part

I imagine it's how the rest of us feel when we have a soul-sucking job that is killing us, but the money is enough to support everything we want and more so it's not much of an option to walk away from it.

So you can't really leave. You just have to learn to embrace the pain (in Salad's case: Chantal and all she brings, including self-deportation at this point), because it is tangibly enabling everything else you've got going on right now. And so you just sprint until you're finally burned out and have to call it finished. Salad's still got some gas in him yet to keep milking the grift.
