The Windows OS Thread - Formerly THE OS for gamers and normies, now sadly ruined by Pajeets

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
Someone I know was complaining he was having all sorts of weird rendering issues in a recent game. Found out he was running Win 7, I suggest he update. "IT'S NOT THE OPERATING SYSTEM, WINDOWS 7 IS THE BEST." I wonder if he had some hacky drivers like that to get the thing to even run.
One of my friends was still running Vista around the time 8 got released, it was more secure according to him. I'm pretty sure it was just UAC defaults being more intrusive.

This is a bit of a late one but if you happen to be like me and despise that fucking tablet swipe shit on the lock screen then you can always disable it through the group policy editor. It's so nice being immediately thrown to the password prompt instead of that gay shit.

Personally I think the Windows 10 iteration of the start menu is probably the best regarding ease of use for both finding programs and not having to move both my mouse and eyes so far to find shit in a weird looking list but for your case, what about the full screen mode in Windows 10?

Man i only use W11 on my work laptop and I can’t edit registery for shit. The swip up is so unnecessary and dumb as fuck to have on a desktop. But there’s worse parts about the OS.

I spent part of my 4th helping my dad install a new drive in his HP that had a dying drive. After getting the drive installed and windows 11 installed, everything seemed fine. Thought everything was good.

Today, got a call from my dad that he’s not able to access his hotmail. Seems that it’s not taking his password, even though it’s his password he uses to log in with his password. The same email address he uses to log into his computer.

Fuck Microsoft making simple things like email difficult.

Did he set up a pin? Ive seen that confused alot of boomers

I wonder why they never went back to having the title of the window centered, like on Windows 3.11 and the other non-Windows systems.

The toggle is disabled if your copy of Windows has not been activated, although it's possible to enable the locked options (including the dark theme) by going in the registry.
Possibly cultural sensitivity, some cultures read right-to-left and having it in the centre might have issues with usability. Remember when Microsoft had to remove the time-zone picker from later builds of Windows 95 because India threw a bitchfit over it.

Not only have I managed to have a SkiFree run where I stopped right before the snowman started to chase me, then managed to outrun him and get back to the beginning, I managed to make it absolutely shit the bed. Once I clicked "Cancel" it threw a bajilion of these errors at once before finally crashing properly. :stress:

It's managed by troons. I don't know how safe you consider that.
Well shit, your other option for a free OS is going with Linux. See how fast you'll shit your pants over the troon debacle there.

Besides, MAS are just automated PowerShell commands. You can visit massgrave.dev and use the documentation to manually activate your shit without having to irm|iex the script.

It's safe unless Microjeet finds a way to detect fake keys, but then again the project is on Github which in turn is owned by Microsoft so they probably just don't give a shit.
They already can detect those keys, they just don't care.
They don't. The money makers for Microsoft are Azure and Office, Windows plays third fiddle to these. They could go a lot harder after activators and be a lot more annoying to people using them, they simply do not care.
Basically. Most Windows sales nowadays are prebuilds and corporate purchases. Home purchases are a tiny fraction of overall profit, and the amount of people using MAS is a fraction of that fraction. And even then Microsoft still gets some money from it via the ever-so-prevalent data collection within Windows 10 and 11, including the LTSC versions. Plus, it still plays into what Bill Gates was saying back when he was at the helm of the company. He didn't really care all that much about China pirating Windows en masse, as that meant they were getting used to Windows and would eventually pay for it, the same mentality that Adobe has adopted.

It would be more of a hassle to play whack-a-mole with MAS and it's more beneficial for Microsoft to just let it be.

Does anyone else have games that use kernal level anticheat, alot of youtube fags say you should not play those games becaues the anti-cheat operates at the highest security level on your computer but I don't know if its just paranoia.
