Putting 2 and 2 together, I'd wager BD wants to tap into the monetary potential that F-list has. The original site admin tried approaching a payment processor in the past but was refused due to allowed content they didn't want to restrict. Having control over the staff means nobody's going to bitch about it or sabotage their efforts.

It makes sense when most of the staff either likes or at the very least, tolerates the stuff. At least that was how the rumour goes. They certainly have been very tolerant of pedoplayers on the site, far more than necessary. (You can get actioned for using pedo as a slur for example.)
BD having to just clear out the nepobabies that made up the mod team was inevitable.

F-List was surprisingly useful during the height of the zoosadism investigation era. People posted all kinds of identifying information on their pages there, and more than a couple of prominent horrorshow types just openly advertised an itemized list of every deranged thing they were into, under their regular aliases.
Besides that, I think we can be confident that nothing of value will be lost after this all shakes out. Sad that it doesn't look like a police action though, the place seemed like it needed it.

I was bored and snooped around the subreddit for a bit looking at olders posts and it seems that either the admin/moderation team are a bunch of catty drama retards or there's 1 (or more) disgruntled users with an axe to grind.
Lots of complaints about the moderation team, unfair bans, etc. so I'm guessing it was just a big fucking slapfight that escalated and the site owners (or whoever) put the place on lockdown in case someone decided they were going to DFE.

the entire life of the website has been like that.
seems like this is the culmination of the staff backend problems they've had for years. they've also had a creeping, encroaching issue of the fact that the primary coding for the site was done by one guy who isn't there anymore, and the new guy they have doesn't actually know how to alter any of the old code. major changes to the website would probably require a rewrite at this point.

I've brushed up against roleplayers due to playing MMORPGs and they tended to either be super chill people who did their thing or the most insufferable cunts to be around. I can't imagine what a community whose primary focus is around ERP would be like.

From my earlier cow-investigating days I found that it was just a really shitty chatroom where everyone already knows who everyone is. So they were all insufferable cunts.
I guess the site got a taste of mainstream appeal a few years back and blew up so I don't know if it's changed but I guess if the past few years of profiles posted here are any indication I'd bet they got very bored and very pornsick.
