I downloaded all the Ubuntu IRC logs, to grep through them locally.
I didn't find anything relevant yet, there is barely any casual talk going on.
When he got jailed, he simply vanished, and only once was asked about him, and only one guy seems to have known more:
Similarly, when he came back, he just suddenly appeared, with a release announcement being his first post on IRC (so i assume that he stayed away from the IRC at first). And again, nobody cared.
Honestly, the only thing i learned here, is just how much linux communities declined in the past years. In the year 2020, their IRC activity was 80% less than in 2010.
I remember how active distribution specific IRCs used to be. It was super hard to keep track of #gentoo , because they were soo busy and there were constantly 10 people writing at once. Nowadays it's all just dead. And their irc-replacement matrix rooms are dead as well.
