People will give you autistic reactions for this but it's true. It's not always the case that everyone on your side is right and everyone on their side is wrong, there can be exceptions. The problem with the comparison is, I can bring up Jack Thompson, or I can bring up annoying yappy church mom, but neither one has ever impacted any game I’m a fan of. If they impacted any it was minuscule and never took the industry to the lows we’re seeing (and simultaneously hitting entertainment in general).

I wanted to add that even back in a day there were leftoids saying that GTA objectifies women or that doom/quake promotes military industrial complex and war. Obviously it wasn't as bad of a problem as it is today.

Basically what I'm trying to say that it isn't so black and white to say that "back in my day it was the conservativesTM who hated the vidya but then there was a party switch". I would even argue that it's sort of a manufactured narrative mostly found in the media and a few films.

It's particularly embarrassing when people on the Right continuously make the same mistakes; there's still a number of old people out where I live trying to get violent video games banned, insisting that anyone that plays a shooter will become a school shooter, etc. Gets particularly frustrating when you try to sit down and properly explain everything to them in the most clear tone possible, but they still don't get it. It's a wee bit frustrating.

That said, for all the right does wrong, they're nowhere near as bad as the left; at their worst, the political right in general is still trying to help people, even if they're not doing it in the best or brightest way. Contrasting the left, who've openly admitted to being more concerned with pissing off right-wingers and care more about political messaging than any form of escapism.

The whole "both sides are bad" thing is something that irks me about the vast majority of centrists that I've seen; from my experience (which admittedly might not be the most accurate) most centrists use it as an excuse to be as dickish as possible, rather than trying to provide a fair and even view of things.
