Diseased Open Source Software Community - it's about ethics in Code of Conducts

Is there an actual reason to dislike Eris S Raymond or is he just washed up? There's a reason we know who he is but that was like 40 years ago lol
In addition to the reasons above, there was some project he tried to take over and get all the cred, but the name escapes me right now, I know they had a good page sperging about him. Anyways a lot of the people who worked with him said that his code is shit. I will look for the source of this, but I need some time to remember what project that was.
I wish someone would go full Gary Plauche and shoot Jeremy Bicha while he was on stage.
Linus should have done this with Bill Gates.

Everyone with any pull in FOSS communities should be screaming about this from the rooftops. This man did not simply molest his sisters, he tortured them. He went out of his own way to inflict extreme pain on girls as young as six. He jammed sharp objects inside of them and cut them with knives, leaving permanent scars. This is recorded until he was seventeen and occurred hundreds of times, often multiple times a day.
I dunno. It annoys me when the crazy lefts scream and bitch and try to force people off campus. But everyone there who cares should just casually bring up "Hey, did you know that Bicha is a child rapist? No seriously! He was convinced in Florida; really fucked up stuff. Cut up his own sisters!" Make his talk empty. Better yet, just calmly and casually talk about it with everyone at the conference and see if any of the crazy lefts start screaming at you and try to kick you out for a CoCk. That would be some 🍿

That doesn't mean they have to let you in no matter what. I wonder if there's some way to send this to the French border police and get his name flagged.
If he has an active warrant or probation saying he can't leave the country, I don't think he'd make it past customs. I'm not sure if any nations have specific requirements around people on their home country's sex offenders lists.

Sorry, I forgot how desensitized I was to this shit as an EMS vol. I'll make sure to spoiler it next time.

It happens to everyone in medicine eventually.

I don't know if an Indian company like Microsoft would since all Asian culture is rapist culture

Rape is a fundamental pillar of Indian society.

She sounds like a total idiot.

You can't hire pedos... because they will use their positions to re-offend.

This is a better bottom line.

Do they have full height cubicles there?

Talk about luxury...

His five minutes of fame came from stabbing RMS in the back just when O'Reilly needed him to, as well as vandalizing the Jargon File with Unix shit and his own politisperging. He's also just an annoying blowhard in general who latches onto groups like a barnacle. He tried this with Gamergate if I remember correctly. While the article isn't about him, I can't shit on ESR without quoting this:
Apropos of nothing, I can't hear about Eric Raymond without thinking of the weird old Webcomic "Everybody Loves Eric Raymond" that somebody made. Long since abandoned but still there:

Weird as Hell.

I can't hear about Eric Raymond without thinking of his glorious old blog.

The last clothing fad I actually liked was the vogue for safari
gear in the mid-1980s.
[...]
I can make it work because I’m a muscular guy with a strong physical presence; people look at the way I dress and carry myself and then aren’t very surprised to learn that I’ve lived on three continents, visited over
fifteen countries, been fluent in three languages besides English, and
that I’m a serious martial artist who can fight hand-to-hand in any of
three styles or with sword or pistol.
[...]
There’s a subtler message in there as well. I’m an intellectual,
a thinker, a geek. I could dress to emphasize that, but why bother?
It’s going to be obvious whenever I open my mouth.

Imagine taking the magic school bus to camp with Jeremy Bicha.

He's still on the schedule for this afternoon as of right now. They're really going to go through with this?

Other guests and organisers must be starting to become aware of the exact nature of his assaults by now. The capacity for someone to say "oh, I heard he had a conviction of some sort" or "maybe he got drunk and groped someone. It's not good but everybody makes mistakes..." should be rapidly diminishing as people read the details.

I don't think I could share a stage with him. I'd cripple him.

I think this thread's expectations for these DebConf people are way too high. "Nothing Ever Happens, Don't Rock the Boat" is the rule in the Pedo Bar.

Also, there must be a complete blackout on this info. You are getting it from Lunduke, X, or word of mouth/emails/'cords, but your fellow employee could CoC snitch on you.

Phoronix mention in Feb: https://archive.ph/NcQ4O

If you don't have anything to say, don't say it.

I wonder if there is some public channel for the conference that attendees are on? Slack, Jabber, whatever the Hell they're using. Usually conferences have such. Would be interesting if someone dropped a link or some details in there.

As to their Code of Conduct I looked it up.

I mean I guess it doesn't actually list child molestation. And they're certainly sticking to the absolute letter of the below it seems.

Doesn't matter who you are or how despised, Debian welcomes you.

And though I started screenshotting this as a dark joke, I ended up reading the actual Code of Conduct and what leapt out at me was that it's pretty much all about not excluding anybody and not making anybody feel excluded or discriminated against. Nothing about keeping out actually bad people. Just that it's bad to keep people out.

Explains a lot.

Bichas account is apparently not in the Ubuntu Developer matrix room anymore.
Their matrix room is the official way of communication of Ubuntu maintainers with each other.
It could be only temporary.

There is the possibility that Canonical shoves the child rapist into Debian (he is already maintainer there), to have him unofficially work for them, while it is the "totally independent and unrelated" Debian that is responsible for housing him.
Ubuntu is downstream of Debian anyway. It makes no difference for them whatsoever, if the rapist contributes to Ubuntu or to Debian.

I wonder what would happen if someone were to ask where he went. (NOTE DO NOT COW TIP)

Lunduke likes to say that he doesn't really care that much about Youtube, and Twitter and Locals (and I think his forum) are the place where most of his community is, but then he puts out a 12 minute video about nothing at all for the algorithm. If this was a shower thought he put out on Twitter, or even a 3 minute video, it wouldn't be so revealing, but there is no way he thinks this is a 12 minute topic.

He is TheQuartering of open source, but better because he has some sources (allegedly) and isn't reading news articles every time (because the tech press won't report on it).
