Late and gay as usual, sorry. You don’t need to keep the smoking apparatus clean. However, you need to be able to tightly pack the rocks at the bottom of it. That’s what the pipe cleaner is for. Several months ago, I wrote about how my best pal (RIP) used to smoke all sorts of shit, including crack. Usually, the pipes are much shorter than the thing he was smoking out of and the ends are packed with scouring pad material, Chore Boy (or just “chore”). You can generally use something around you to pack whatever apparatus you’re going to use.

My friend’s fingers wouldn’t become melanated when he smoked up, but they would blister due to the heat. For as much of a retard he is, Austin is probably saving his fingers some additional damage by smoking out of a seemingly long as fuck pipe thing. On the flip side, he’s taking his hit and then he’s stuffing it back down his pocket. His thighs are probably burned up, lol

Anyway, god damn. I’ve watched that video three times and it’s just so fucking stupid and I feel like I’m losing my own sanity from laughing at it so much. I love this shit.

You're right that it needs to be packed reasonably well, but he could also be torching the chemicals off of the chore. Previously he used to do it with a butter knife, but he might have lost his butter knife privileges. Could be a two for one, torch the chore and a packing tool.

Austin does say in his crack tutorial that you gotta burn off the chore boy. Austin has also stated he "needs some ash" as he uses cigrette ashes with his crack when he foil smokes.

The chore boy, or the ash, arent about packing material to hold it down, though this would be a crack heads thought process as having it tightly in there aids in its purpose. The chore boy is in there to heat up and give the crack (or whatever) a hot surface area to vaporize. Its literally just a heating element. This is the same purpose of the "nail" in dab rig. If you just put your crack in the bottom of a glass pipe and torch it, it'll boil and eventually slowly vapor off. You need that bad boy to hit right away so you get all your crack rockarooski flavor NOW before the pipe gets too hot or you burn through your foil.
