Sony hate thread

I understand that making a game engaging for people with different skill levels is not easy, but the answer to that shouldn't be to turn the whole thing into a braindead "push button for awesome" turd that can be played with one hand and offers no challenge whatsoever
the funny part in your message is that porn games have to be the opposite, challenge is irrelevant, it has to be playable with one hand or you fucked up somewhere inbetween and have to redo shit or else it's a bad porn game.

You know, I ask myself if perhaps game developers need to start looking into making separate game difficulties for older people?

I am closer to 40 that I'd like to admit, and will probably start to experience a decline in my reflexes and motor skills as time goes on, rendering me unable to play many games out there simply because I won't be able to keep up with them.

Mind you, I'm not asking for "journalist mode", but for devs to figure out a way to keep the skill requirements, while adapting the speed of the action so older gamers don't get overwhelmed.

you would be no different than a cripple and xbox was sort of into that with that dj mixing board looking shit that was a accessibility controller, i don't know about sony because they are kind of like nintendo and hate their customers.
unless you play shit like fps in which the reflex degradation is minimal, that is if your skeletal and muscle structure is healthy but fat old people are rare unless they are filthy rich to pay for the stolen organs.

Assuming you're male - Unless you have serious nerve damage, you will experience maybe a 5-10% decline in untrained response times. Your trained response times will probably be indistinguishable. You won't see serious holistic decline in reaction times until your late 60s.

Meanwhile Dean Takahashi can't even complete the dashing section of the tutorial for Cuphead, despite reporting on games for years by that point
Takahashi was also the journalist who wrote a negative review of Mass Effect 1, saying that it was so difficult that he couldn't finish the game. Apparently he didn't know he had to assign points to the characters' skills and change weapons and armors. He is the reason why Bioware streamlined the later games.

He's the reason I'm having to skip through the skill and equipment screens on every deployment in LE right now? How can you miss the big flashing SKILLS and EQUIPMENT tabs in 1's menu every time you pause the game? I get being bad at games and being a bit of a putz, but missing a big flashing icon is a real world useful skill deficit, like not being able to recognize cop sirens.

And even that, Mass Effect 1 isn't even hard in Nightmare difficulty.
So, wtf.

We're talking about a gamejourno who couldn't get past the tutorial of Cuphead, lol

Mass Effect and Takahashi.webp thank you Dean Takahashi.webp

I am telling you, we need a new difficulty. Journo difficulty should be right below the "The game literally plays itself" difficulty.
my plan was, if I ever make a game for real, do a journo difficulty that turns into a grey gendercube (aka "burka") that plays itself, still constantly nags the most inane shit how to jump etc, with some hamfisted DEI story that only exists on that difficulty.

should get high ratings on that alone.

Jurno difficulty should just be a video of relevant dialogues and cutscenes spliced together, absolutely zero gameplay, the only buttons present are those to pause, rewind and forward the video, and maybe chapter select if the devs are feeling fancy.

The Apollo Justice Ace Attorney trilogy has a movie mode where the game plays itself, but that at least makes sense since those games are visual novels anyway.

Funnily enough, that's exactly how the ESRB works. They rate the games based on a video send to them by the publisher with the relevant cuts.

This isn't related to anything recent, but I need to vent a little.

Sony allows publishers and/or developers to block scenes from being recorded with the share feature. I can understand this in the case of preventing spoilers or unauthorized viewing of copyrighted content. I don't agree at all, but understand. Unfortunately, it seems this block even extends to using the RemotePlay feature. There's a game I wanted to make recordings of for a Discord server I'm in, because it's part of a series that only recently started getting released in the US, and not everyone would be autistic enough to track down the SEA version and play it themselves. Unfortunately, the entire game is blocked from being recorded, and Remote Play won't even display the game at all because "this contains blocked scenes". The only way I can record is getting a capture card and setting up OBS, and I'm not getting a gadget just to record a single game, even if I would enjoy it.

Rant over. Sony should never have given devs/publishers this ability and I hate consoles even more.

and it's not a guaranty. The PS3 used to have some sort of DRM protection on the HDMI so if you plugged it to a capture card you would get no signal. I don't know if they still do that with the PS5.
