Sam Hyde

Sam seems to have started a downward trend since halfway through starting the Sam Hyde show. Between FT, this, and his more recent content just not being quite as good I don’t think this is an isolated incident. I like his stuff, so it’s a bit of a bummer.

What are we thinking the odds on him upping his TRT from “regular guy in the 1940s” to something much higher are? I’d say they’re pretty good based on the hair.

I think Sam is juggling a lot at once and as a result everything just feels very weak. He has a podcast, he's always guesting on podcasts, stand up comedy tours and dates all throughout the year, needs to be available for Fishtank running 40+ days (Fishtank in 2024 ran for over 3 months combined), Sam Hyde Show, working on Extreme Peace for 2+ years.

I get he's a self proclaimed "workaholic" but I think that sorta pristine sheen he once had on productions has faded a bit. Wish he'd maybe reel himself in a bit and focus on fewer things, and maybe try to maintain a higher effort as a result.

sam's humor is funny, this podcast guy is a fag trying to get clicks and shilling faggy products/mlm shit ad nauseam. sam was able to see it and treated him physically like fag boy was trying to treat him and his team through manipulative femeinine psycho faggotry. twigs for gorilla boi? ok nigger, lets make that nest out of your whole set. enough said.
I think Sam Hyde is a grand pedophile and scammer. he misleads people into thinking they are going to collab with him on fishtank and doesn't even pay for their traveling finances -- and you are lucky if he doesn't change his mind about you after making you pay for transport coming all the way to his place from the furthest of where you came from (mostly because of his retarded agents that keep sending false E-mails and he is too fat to care to supervise after them). I still remember that one time when he was talking about "if a minor is doing *inappropriate things with adults* does that mean she is a child? or straight up a hoe!!!" not sure if I still have it saved but I will look for it. if you follow that guy then your IQ is not more than a braindead African woman.
The absolute state of this thread. You fags deserve eachother

Here’s Redbar’s analysis of when Harland made Joe Rogan mad. Mike's comments at the beginning are pretty applicable to what Sam encountered.

"Okay so Joe Rogan had Harland Williams on ... I think I remember hearing him on Adam Corolla years and years and years ago during the height of Corolla's podcast and going 'oh, this Harland is kind of funny.' You know, he's kind of good at this and he kind of has a mean bone in his body a little bit. I love discovering this, I see this with Tim Heidecker where these guys, they're pretending that it's just, you know, random comedy but it does kind of have like a mean spirit to it.
...
Harland Williams goes on Joe Rogan and you're thinking... What, is he gonna just play it straight and kind of just talk to Joe about, you know, real stuff? Or is he going to run bits?"
"Pride doesn't always mean gay. It used to mean proud. It's in the Bible."
Hand to God I've never watched Rogan. I didn't know he was literally a greentext of himself. Is he legit retarded?

It wasn't, this "I'm preteting to be retarded" always comes out as cope, and it really doesn't stick here because Sam Hyde doesn't seem to be a person to suffer fools for a "bit".

Shit is simple, nobody likes to be on the receiving end of this bullying comedic style that Sam Hyde does, when the objetive is to make people uncomfortable.

It's all well and good when you are the one pressing the buttons, but when it is their turn on the chair, it is always the same people who pushes for this sort of "comedy" the ones who chimp out the hardest.

And it doesn't even have to be about "comedy", it is more about behaviour. Take a look at Ethan Ralph, he build his name over bringing people over his show to be public humiliated, but a couple of people making fun of his gunt made him lose his shit so hard that such was his spiral that now he lives in a shack in Mexico.

So no, it wasn't a bit, it wasn't an comedic act or whatever, Sam Hyde got butt hurt and chimped out because he was in the wrong side of the grift, simple as that.
The scrapped Eric Andre, Chet Hanks interview is a mirror example. Chet fucked with him, he couldn't handle it and claimed he was mad because of "safety reasons." (They had a stunt actor ride a scrambler onto set for some bit and Chet took the bike and rode it around, making Eric seethe that he'd lost control of the situation.)

Yeah I get that, at the end of the day Sam is the one with the better work ethic who gets shit done, Charls said so himself. The problem is his ego and when he can't control his autism and sabotages his more talented friends along with him.
It's unfortunate that he hasn't been able to convey that work ethic to the wiggers he hires. His grindset is a major reason for his success over others who are funnier and more stable than he is.

Not to be the faggot "both sides" person, but I'm going to be that faggot.

The people saying the other MDE guys should jump ship are stupid, EP wouldn't exist without Sam laying the ground work since WP was cancelled. And if your serious advice is to abandon your friend because he was cringe on a podcast, you sound like the pearl clutchers who say people should destroy friendships over being "problematic."
This is easily salvageable, and having the internet brained mindset of never letting anyone slip ever or it's "so over" is retarded. This just happened to be a loud faceplant.

The people acting like this was a 5D bit that Sam did are ALSO faggots because the intention of going on podcasts is to get NEW people to watch your show. And coming off like you couldn't handle the gorilla nest does not get new eyes on your show, therefore, its a retarded bit. So even if it was all an "epic style bit only true MDE fans will get," that is a retarded plan. You already have the MDE audience watching, doing a bit for them wouldn't make any sense. And if you read the comments, the non-MDE fans were clearly not amused.
Ehhh, MDE is never going to have mass appeal. Shooting for that will just ruin what makes it funny. If they're aiming for that kinda success they're pretty stupid, given their style - not to mention their personal views that have been broadcast everywhere. Tanking your wider reputation with a podcast bit could be hilarious in a very MDE type way - the only problem is that it wasn't funny and had them come off looking stupid.

You gotta feel for Nick, he seems to have been a genuine fan of Harland and is disbelief that Sam embarrassed himself like this.
Don't know if anyone noticed this yet, but at 46:16 you can hear Nick say "Don't worry about it Harland, we'll make it all better. We're good for this. Eric and I are good for this."

i'd go as far as saying that downward trend began when World Peace was cancelled

yeah that bothered me. this isn't like out of the ordinary for Sam either - it's just the latest example of his tendency to act selfishly with zero regard for how it might affect Nick, Charls, or any of his other peers

It’s interesting how differently people can read the same podcast. I’ve noticed for some people comedy is less about making people laugh but a battle of egos. It goes hand in hand with the whole comedians are philosophers the last bastion of the west shit. As others have pointed out you tell when someone can’t just forfeit their ego and go along with maybe being the butt of the joke. Have thought about this a lot sorry for semi off topic sperging.

I think that 5D meta-irony view of comedy really psyches people out. When Adam Friedland showed up on Steve-O’s podcast, Steve-O and his friend spent the whole time trying to “figure out” what he was really like, as if he were a Machiavellian genius playing a Kaufman esque character. When the simpler reality is that he’s just like that, more comfortable than he seems and knows how to play it up to mess with people. Similar view of how people act like Sam is this mysterious guy that’s hard to pin down. In my view he’s never hidden his beliefs, and it’s easy to tell when he’s out of character. But the assumption that it’s all a construct and the man behind it is this high IQ Machiavellian mastermind leads them to imagine a comedian that doesnt actually exist

>tfw your 40 y/o friend and business partner starts assaulting the last mainstream podcast host that will ever speak to you.
Someone could make a great edit of this whole thing with Sam Hyde from season 1 saying (quite sincerely) how many business opportunities he squandered in his career by being a moron

Someone should make a Netflix documentary and hire Summer as the narrator/love interest.

I am behind in the thread so late me rate if its been mentioned, but yall have been mentioning the Harland/Tom Green connection, ill speculate on some further minutia:

In the second season of the MTV version of the Tom Green Show, Harland's good friend and fellow leaf Tom had a crash out when his new desk was destroyed by some douche guest who had a chainsaw guitar. It was bad. It was kinda a bad look because its not too far off from shit Tom did to get noticed, so crashing out over a little stunt seemed unbecoming, regardless of how reasonable the crash out was (it was a very new, very expensive custom desk the guy sawed the corner off).

Harland was definitely aware of how Tom's incident played out and it probably informed his decision to approach the situation differently.

Yeah and I've seen some people say the desk had tens of thousands of dollars of recording equipment which I doubt. The desk seemed to be put down quite gracefully so it's unlikely there's even significant damage to begin with (to be clear I haven't watched the whole thing).

I think Sam was maybe expecting a pissed off reaction and Harland didn't do anything to react which just made Sam look dumb. The desk is replaceable within a day or two and it wouldn't require him much effort.

It ends up looking like Sam trying to pull a bit completely alone and failing. But I guess they can't all be winners.

Spoiler for ep 5.

The ending is actually the first thing in this show so far to make me laugh out loud. I don't want to know what that means about me but Charles self-suck finale really got me good. The whole Prom sketch is the closest to what I liked about WP.
School of Comedy is ok, "I sucked my dads dick" is the essence and it is a good bit. Sam teaching girls to be 'almost funny' works but kind of goes nowhere, its a fine premise but goes a bit long and has little to say for its runtime.
Candy news was lame. sorry to say. Just ends up being aimless political sperging, who cares.
