Lol, Erika Ishii is a professional voice actress with over half a decade of experience. She is also the English (main) voice actor for Ghost of Yotei so no shit she'd be used as the face as the protagonist. The Japanese voice acting in Tsushima was mediocre anyways so I don't know why they are trying to pretend it is some ultimate Japan experience like Sekiro or Yakuza. I also can't wait for the seethe when they figure out she was also one of the VAs for Rook in DAV.
Probably because 1. It was the “Assassin’s Creed: Feudal Japan” game people have wanted for over a decade, 2. The Kurosawa mode (which IIRC consulted with and got the blessing of the man’s estate), and 3. AC Shadows happened, so they have their examples of “doing thing wrong” and doing thing “right”.
I hope this Ghost of Yotei VA crap turns into a massive L for Grummz and Co. They bitch and moan about female characters like Rey (and others) from Star Wars or Nu-Lara from Tomb Raider being to small and weak to take on fully grown men believably and now when a they design a female character that actually looks like she could realistically throw hands with samurai they instead demand a 5f.2 tall waifu. Not to mention how they love to go on about hiring the best person for the job but when you look at the video game work done by the two actresses it becomes blantently apparent that Erika is far more qualified than Karen Fukuhara whose sole venture into video games was the Calisto Protocal. Also to top it all off, there is no actual proof that she even auditioned for the game beyond the X post so it will be even more funny if she came out and debunked all of this and told them to fuck off.
