Probably finding Crusader Cat is very attached to his character. Seems to be old furries are more likely to use only one or two characters, and they don't like giving them up.

Most makers easily charge a minimum of $1K–$3K for something as simple as a new head, so it’s not exactly feasible for most people to drop that kind of money. Plus, when people eventually figure out it’s you, all that effort and cash go to waste.
I’ve seen furries try this anyway, but with poor results. As a few examples:
-After Nitro Rooski was banned from most of the Eastern U.S. over his charity fraud, he attempted to reinvent himself three times. First, he tried to scam someone selling a donkey fursuit (it didn’t work, and he never got the suit). Then he tried to scam someone out of a Dalmatian suit (also failed). Finally, he convinced a maker to build a Dalmatian suit very similar to the one he couldn't scam. They made it, but people immediately recognized him, meaning the rebrand was a bust. This was all documented in his OP.
-In late 2023 and early 2024, Kero the Wolf attempted a comeback as Hakan Yote, buying a new suit and sneaking into a furmeet he’d been banned from by putting on the fursuit head before entering and never taking it off inside. Eventually, people realized it was him, and the furmeet implemented a new rule: staff must see your face at some point. This starts here in the Kero thread.
-Lumin City is a notorious stalking politisperg who was banned from multiple events for harassing people both online and off. He had commissioned a fursuit a few months before things blew up, so people already knew it was him before the suit was even finished. It has occurred to me that, while many people view his fursona as ugly or gross, he is overly attached to it. I wouldn't be surprised if it's due to how "Unique" it is in a fandom which is otherwise filled with fursonas which look like a shipment of neon paint for gay raves hit an IED. (There's many which I've seen which physically hurt my eyes with how many neon colors are haphazardly thrown together).

I mean yeah I guess right? The fur suiting thing is ridiculously expensive unless you can make your own. But also realistically, if you're a grown ass adult sourcing that kind of money shouldn't realistically be out of the question, ideally a years worth of saving should get you that even if you're Laissez-faire with it. Then again a lot of furries have 0 fiscal responsibility. Unrelated but I remember one furry who I spoke to like twice, the first time they openly admitted they got their apartment by convincing a landlord that they could maintain rent just by offering art commissions, they had 0 online presence, their art style was "fine" but rudimentary and they weren't advertising. Well, fast-forward 6-8months they were in the discord begging for cash, blaming "Bigger, popular furries" and AI art, as well as chastising anyone who gave advise, ended up getting banned out of the discord for it all. This is like the most egregious example I've seen but I saw it a lot when I interacted with the fandom.

Funnily enough I have heard of all 3 of these incidents in one way or another via osmosis. I mean yeah it can blow up if you make a point of visiting the same spots/conventions or mixing with the same groups of people right? But if you just make a point of engaging with a different group of furries, using a different name and having "new" accounts, whilst being smart enough not to mention 'The past' and keeping a low profile you'll generally be fine. Then again, that's lolcows for you, they literally cannot escape the gravity of their own ego and will continue to draw attention to themselves.
