Imagine that your cousin's birthday is next Saturday and you need to plan out your route for driving to his house in a city 50 miles away. Instead of planning out an entire basic route and then worrying about contingency plans for things like what you'll do if the freeway offramp you plan to take to get to his house is closed and you're forced to take the next one, you immediately start developing contingency plans for any possible problem without regard for how likely it is to occur. Next thing you know, you're trying to come up with a plan for what you're going to do if there's a Mt. Pinatubo type volcanic eruption that grounds airliners around the world and the freeway is clogged with buses trying to get airline passengers to their destinations, you still don't have a basic route completed, and the party was last month. (And since you're Mald in this situation, you should also imagine having a ferret shoved up your ass while doing all this.)

So, you're building a house. You have the foundation already, and you're thinking about all the cool shit you might put in your cool house, just in case since you're so worried about having regrets.
You start off by building a swimming pool under the house's foundation, just in case you want to go swimming, then you leave it half-finished because you got distracted and kinda forgot about it.
You add a second story and fill it with 10 bathrooms, just in case you need to move some of those bathrooms up to the 3rd and 4th floor.
You allocate several rooms for your home theater, your game room, your arcade game room, and your prized Beanie Babies & Pogs collection (even though you only have like three... So far!!)
Finally, you feel comfortable enough to begin adding normal rooms, like a kitchen and bedroom. You end up tired of the clutter you left behind while making all the other projects, of which they may or may not be half-finished. So you finally get tired and scrap all the crap that you made just in case but ultimately didn't need. Now you've wasted an extra million dollars for effectively no reason, and you don't even have a bedroom done yet.
You don't build houses like that, and so you don't code like that either. Especially because game projects are a thousand times more mercurial than a house - the scope of your design can and will fluctuate like crazy.

Think of software as a complex, imperfectly plannable problem, like having to build a bridge in an uncharted valley.
You need to explore first, and you'll need to adjust your assumptions as you go.
You will discover things that you did not expect as you go, maybe there are natural formations that can support the bridge in some places, maybe there are drops that are too steep to support the bridge, and you'll need to come up with creative solutions to support it.
While extremely experienced explorers may get a feel for how easy or hard it'll be to go through the valley, even they will never be able to get it right consistently, as nobody knows the shape of the valley until they go through it.
This is why the best programmers out there start with basic prototypes, akin to crossing the valley with personal climbing gear, then throw it away.
They also aren't afraid of throwing away, or rebuilding parts of the code as they go, as knowing when you're wrong is probably one of the best skills to have in that field.
Mald goes at it completely backwards: he makes gigantic assumptions (like having to support PCs without shaders, even though game maker 2 doesn't support them), builds shitty code (with a ton of pointless, repeated code that could be simplified and shortened by tens of thousands of lines of code), and absolutely refuses to ever rewrite code to make it better, easier to understand, or faster.
Think of it as Mald assuming that the valley has a shape, making an overly expensive, complicated, impossible to repair bridge that can work in an extremely fucked up valley, and never acknowledging that, actually, he was going through flat plains.
Heartbound is, fundamentally, an extremely simple game to program for.
The dialogue and story checkpoint system is 90% of the complexity of the game, and should have been the crown jewel in the code, maintained, simple, and probably rewritten 10 times into a slick system.
Instead, it's spread out, unreadable bullshit built to assume that 10 billion things may happen, when, in reality, all it does is change a few lines of dialogue, and opens a few doors here and there.

Tectone was signed with OTK, don't remember what happened with that. He moved and wasted a ton of money on this "upgraded streamer lifestyle" and it didn't work out, his main meta is ragebaiting and being anti-woke. Nothing wrong with being anti-woke, but with him you can see he doesn't think at all, he just jumps on bandwagons and what his audience (teenagers) would find funny, his only w recently was calling Frogan Jabba the Hutt. Asmongold has a calm presentation so adults can tune in to him, but Tectone is really painful to watch/listen to while not having the comedic dumbass energy of other big streamers.
Anyway, Tectone got into OTK because he was buddies with Rich (who is an asshole and buddies with Asmongold). In OTK he was always sucking up to Asmon and they're both on the anti-woke gamer side. Asmongold was forced to leave OTK because of his Palestine comments iirc? And Tectone got kicked out 7 months ago. Doesn't surprise me that now he's looking to migrate and suck up again.
