@Mola Ram pretty well summarized it, but the basic jist is John is so self-absorbed he assumes anything he is personally struggling with must be some niche, esoteric aspect of the hobby and not one of its building blocks. That carries over to pretty much everything he does, from thinking it's a reasonable question whether or not one would need to install BIOS or when asking basic questions about his car's electronics system so he can "hack" it.

I have to admit one of my fantasies is to have a woman with a metric ton of feminist cred who does know what they are talking about in (insert field here) just outright tell Wu they are a dumbass playing at intelligence, they are a damned fraud, and that they should quit pretending competence they don't have.

I've seen aspects of all the above happen, but not all at once, and I personally think it would be glorious to watch.

It really is sickening that Wu is willing to use tragedies, both real and imaginary, to cry for attention. Even if Wu did get off her ass and go to a gym and saw some poor woman in critical condition, the fact that the first thing she does is open her Twitter to post about it and not try to offer any sort of assistance really speaks a lot about her character.

It looks like the "armies of men" is maybe five dudes (based on a loose definition of "corrected" that basically includes people saying "what?"). And the "factual error an author might have made" is just Wu having -1 reading comprehension.

Of course, whatever tweet of John's set this thread in motion has been deleted.

As always, I'm befuddled as to how the mind of the Wu works. Do you have an event planned or not? The logical sequence of events is to have an idea for an event, figure out the date and venue and how many people you expect to show up, then start telling people about it.

I wonder if things like this and Wu's abortive town hall meeting come from the same impulse as her lies. She decides on what would make her sound maximally "cool" and only after realises that she's just committed to putting on some kind of event.

You know what? I'm just glad that Brianna didn't pretend she was also well versed in cpr. I could imagine her seeing a woman collapse and the wheels in her head turning, thinking it would be a great media opportunity. Then pushing real first responders out of the way and fumbling through cpr while actual medics are telling her she is doing it wrong and she tells them to stop mansplaining. She hasn't lied about going to med school, yet.
