Basically a buy it now is you basically can buy it now auctions work in a way that you can bid the $20, or just skip the auction all together and drop the $100 to just buy it, I tend to do BIN's if I know the auction price on an item will surpass the buy it now price.

Dutch auctions work differently though, if you have 10 of one item, the 10 highest bidders I believe get the item,

Just hope Chris doesn't know anything about shill bidding to drive up the price... But to him it be too much work

This could very well be the first full bore sonichu drawing he has made in years, save for some lazy doodles. Yes he can churn these out in 20 minutes, but that's always been the nature of his work. When you consider how long it's been, it's a significant piece of work. Unless a ween bids an astronomical amount with the intent of not paying, Chris will get a nice chunk of change for this.

He can probably repeat the process about a dozen times or so, until everyone with some expendable money who would want such a thing has one. And of course, each one made will be worth a lot less because it won't be the image that ended the sonichu drought.

The trick will be how people work with him once this plan stops paying out. If people are smart, they will demand a continuation of his comics, starting right in the middle of the Xmas story, with the original drawing of each page going straight to eBay for sale once Chris digitizes it. As long as those drawings still sell, Chris will have finally developed a symbiotic relationship with his audience.

People sell Doujinshi with licensed characters all the time. Nintendo and Sega don't give a rat's ass about Sonichu, even if they KNEW it existed. Look at all the awful mash-up t shirts sold on legitimate websites with licensed characters. No one cares.

They do. Well..... at least Sega does. In a contest video they were giving away a Super Sonic plush and said....

It's Sonichu.... just kidding.

When you first set up an auction, you have the option of selecting a starting bid price and a Buy it Now price. With a pair of shoes, for example, you could say, "these are a pair of brand new Nike shoes, I won't accept anything less than $40 for them" and bidding starts at $40--the eBay automated system automatically rejects bids for less. Buy It Now gives people the option to straight-up buy the item in question--however, once a bid is placed the Buy it Now option disappears. Additionally, starting bids must be 10% lower or more than the Buy It Now price.
