Phil does not make $8000 a month. More likely 5-6k a month. Split that between 2 mortgages, and his bills and I highly doubt he is saving anything.
he made it this month. and i think he definitely saves atleast 1000-2000$ a month. what do you think he pays for his 2 mortgages a month?

Completely agree.

Phil is just a cautionary tale about entering a field of 'employment' that is novel and thinking you'll either make the same or more in a decades time. The reality is that it is not as novel as it once was and during its heyday, Phil chose to live it up by buying stupid shit and not thinking ahead.

Probably a big flaw was also thinking that taking on a large amount of debt was sustainable and a "good way" to expand his earnings.

If you look at his current setup, he has shitty headphones, a shitty TV and a shitty PC. Everything he spent money on (like the BMW) ended up getting him nothing at all in return, and his inflexibility with his living arrangements have made his existence expensive.

I think he's still in that line of thinking because he thinks the games he buys are "must haves" when in reality they probably aren't helping him very much (he probably gets a sweet $2 tax return on each of them though). He probably also thought that things with Leanna would last forever and perhaps ironically didn't think of himself when moving half way across the country.

If Phil had actually lived within his means, resisted the temptation to buy 16 Keurigs, a BMW and two houses then he probably wouldn't be in the shit show he is right now. He's going to have a difficult few years ahead.

The harsh reality is that being a full-time "Youtuber," content creator or indeed most businesses that are sole in nature (i.e. being a plumber) requires adaptability, flexibility, foresight and excellent PR and communication skills.

Another key skill he sorely lacks is usually called something along the lines of "having to break an egg to make an omelet". He refused to use a capture card, he refused to use twitch, he refused to do x/y/z. He hasn't started using blip or any of the twitch alternatives yet. He is very reluctant to drive change in an industry where it is a requirement.

Phil doesn't have any of these. He has just been lucky.

For his Connecticut place he pays $1,500. Now I believe that includes utilities, association fees, everything. He also pays around $1,500 for his townhouse in Renton. That's not including utilities, association fees, etc. So that's around $3,500 right there. Then add in the car payment, insurance, 5 figures in cc debt, multiple personal (or as he calls them "business loans) & you see he's barely treading water, if that. Personally I think he's in the red each month.

The most important thing to point out is before Twitch donations he would still be making more then most of his fans with Youtube/Patreon. These are people who are juicers at Whole Foods and butlers and Phil has the gull to ask for a slice of their check because he fucked up his life financially. Remember "only $1 a month. It means nothing to you but a lot to me." It means shit to him. Give him $1 next time he will expect $5. His Twitch donations total $4,000 one month his fans better not put their wallets away because they just raised the bar on what Phil will expect every month. There is no amount that will fulfill his greedy appetite and there is no time table for when this stops. Phil doesn't just expect this for the rest of his life, he thinks he is entitled to it for reasons nobody can figure out.

Being a novelist could actually be an ideal job for Phil if he could channel all that overlong rambling he does on his tumbleweed forums and twitter and his vids into interesting stories. Set your own hours, talk only about what you want, be a hermit if you want, make up fictional stories, c'mon phil what more could you ask for?

Where are you getting your info that he made 8k this month?
he made 4000$+ on twitch (tips, subs, cheers) ~3000$ youtube and ~1000$ patreon.

edit: sry i misread.

the twitchinfo is from eddys twitter.
the youtube-amount is from phil himself. he said this month was the first time he made more on twitch than on youtube. that means he makes less than 4000$ on youtube.
the months before he made around 3000$ monthly, so youtube has to be more than 3000$.
that`s why his youtube has to be between 3000-4000$ a month.

As someone who has made quite a bit of money from YouTube I can tell you your guesstimates are way off, and Phil is lying. At best Phil is getting a $1 cpm (I doubt even that high in the summer) which means he is bringing in $1500-$1700 max from YouTube.

Good info. I'd always assumed a high estimate of $2.

Phil didn't appreciate some of the people talking about monetization on his forums:

A few good quotes from Drgnkiller

Nobody to lean on, except his 200 viewers watching him bitch about money. Says he has nobody left to ask for money so hopefully his parents finally cut him off.

The poor choice of words quote of the day. "Please tip me, it will go to a GOOD CAUSE." This guy has no idea what is going on outside his bubble.

What are those good causes? Phil's electric, internet, and games he NEEDS to buy. The delusional downfall he has gone through since Leanna dumped him has been fascinating.

Why does he need to buy 6-7 games THIS month to play them over the next several months? Does he actually get anything out of buying them now?

He probably has it figured that the best way to generate income is by having all games on day 1.
Not by like, building a stream that people would actually want to watch.

I guess if he's actually playing them right away it makes sense to buy them. I'd assumed he wasn't.

So, last month he made about $1700 + $4K from Twitch and $1K from Patreon. Even with two mortgages at around $2500-3000 he's still spending about $5K per month. So he's not exactly broke but that extra cushion of cash is starting to finally drop.

If he sold off one of his properties he'd still be doing okay... Until the autists stop giving him Twitch money which is probably going to happen soon at this rate.

Don't forget the needless $400 a month on internet for two separate internet connections (because a VPS or VPN runs the ludicrous price of like $5 a month).
And payments for his brand new Corolla.
