He has the nerve to use I am trying to keep my house as an excuse to not do a charity stream for people who are about to lose their house.
The man really has zero tact. I'm willing to accept, in principle, that when you're self-employed and not doing so well, you might have to make unpopular decisions to stay afloat. But he's utterly brazen about it - doesn't even pretend that he has any other motivation than grabbing enough pennies to keep the machine sputtering along.
It reminds me of his discussion of quitting review videos, where it essentially boiled down to "I can only spend my time on the activities that return the maximum cents per hour invested, so screw any of you who liked my reviews".

You know, this is probably why he can't get another job.
"So, why do you want to work at MegaCorp, Mr. Burnell?"
"So I can PAY MY BILLS and don't LOSE MY HOUSE! What are you, some kind of idiot?"

The lack of empathy he has is impressive. He didn't learn a lesson from August and continues with being a dick to the audience.
As expected he repeats the same Patreon goal, which at best means he makes the same people pay twice for the Halloween goal, and at worst makes them pay twice without reaching said goal. What could possibly go wrong, to put a popular event behind a paywall almost every other twitch streamer (provided he lives where Halloween is celebrated) does for free?

Then we have the same situation again, with a Hurricane that makes people prefer donating to the good cause rather than to Phil's "good cause". Doing a charity stream would have been good for public relations and would shut up some of the detractors, even when he would be forced to dit - but instead he shit on his audience for suggesting it, with his debts as a bullshit excuse. Again, if he sees no immediate gratification, he doesn't raise a finger.

And now he complains about Super Mario Sunshine winning the Patron's Choice Poll. I mean he knew he was playing Mario vs. Rabbids and Mario Oddyssey, so why putting Sunshine on the list? I mean he could have said up forefront that there would be three Mario games in a row and that would turn away some of the audience. That's three times in a pre-stream he calls his audience idiots an openly thinks of them as living ATMs. Also have fun with him bitching that all these Mario games aren't monetized on top of the advertiser unfriendly videos Youtube pulls on him.

The $4k seem to have blinded him, now he doesn't care about youtube and Patreon, even though that's some good money he could earn or lose if he wouldn't be such a dick.

Rather than compare his financial situation to people who have literally lost everything but the clothes on their back, how about the gout-riddled buffoon do something with his shitty $500+ toys? Get up an hour early and put one on eBay with the proceeds going to charity. Shill the hell out of the auction to show what a great philanthropist you are and pat yourself on the back for the next 3 years. The answer, of course, is that he's lazy, greedy and lacks empathy.

ETA: And trolls bidding only helps Phil. He can claim he did all could and is really sorry that the trolls ruined his heartfelt plan to help people. Darned detractors again!

A reason Phil always gets heat with people is the way he says things. Saying you are in a rough spot financially and cannot donate to a charity is an understandable statement on paper, but when you hear Phil say it and how he says it is obvious he said it because of greed and selfishness. Calling the person who suggested it an idiot just solidifies that.

Does his patrons picking Mario Sunshine come off as a subtle middle finger from his patrons to Dsp? Obviously they still want to support him, but after the "weeb game" thing and now having to start back at $0 for a goal they almost fully funded last month they have a right to be pissed. Maybe it is just because Phil would never play Sunshine unless it won a Patreon poll which is what his Patreon was always supposed to be about. Either way it is funny they are voting for a game they know will be claimed as soon as the videos hit Youtube.

i haven't followed the trainwreck of DSP for very long, but has he ever been asked if he has any plans for his future besides barely making ends meet? like what his end goal is? in the videos i've watched of him complaining about how he needs to make more money, the idea of a "real job" doesn't even barely get touched on. he can't really be stupid enough to think if he goes at this long enough he'll eventually make a "comfortable" living where he isn't hoping that @BSV will send him another chunk of cash...

i've also been trying to figure out how he's able to so consistently snort through his streams. he's fat but he's not extremely obese. is he constantly sick/congested? i tried imitating it as a joke and can't manage it.

DSP is allergic to PR, if it doesn't give him money right then and there it isn't worth it - anything that isn't the bottom line easiest thing he can do is too much effort and can (according to him) lose his steady stream of moolah - I don't think he's not denying a charity stream because he believes he deserves the money more (although there's something to be said about his lack of empathy), it's because he's so tremendously lazy and stubborn that changing anything about his set 'schedule' is too much work

This is the man who filmed his TV up until like 2011 because he refused to get a capture card like everybody else

He said some time ago that "there is no plan B". HE has no backup plan.
Years ago, he said that if he gets a lot of money, he would open a restaurant and do that and youtube at the same time. Of course, he knew he will never have that, thats why he said it.

As PieceOfShet said, he doesn't really have an end goal. He said once that he'd like to open a restaurant but that would undoubtedly end terribly.

My guess is that he wants to pay off both mortgages and/or sell one of his properties and then go on disability.

Years ago? He have been saying it several times this year, if he won the lottery!

I wonder especially about what happens as he gets significantly older. Does his current audience follow? Can an out of touch guy in 40's-50's gain new followers? What will games be like in 10-15-20 years? Will people be watching streams/videos in the same way (or at all) in the future? Can Phil keep up with technology? what happens in his 60's (he's at that age when a responsible person at least starts thinking about a retirement plan)?

Things Phil has never addressed as far as I know.

I mean thats when I first heard him saying. Now that you mention it, he did say that not too long ago... if he wins a lottery. Oh god, hope he never wins any large ammount of money.
"Snooooooooooort! You know i just won $10 millions, but it doesn't look like i will be able to make the bills this month, everything went to pay my debt, so now i need another $10 millions or i wont do the next Patreon goal which is a special DSP tries it: Donald Trump cereals. So if you, snooooooooooort, wanna see eat a spoon of our great leaders cereals, you need to donate, buuuurp! What??? Some idiot in chat is wondering about my new Lamborghini Huracan, what a idiot, i told you i loan it second hand on a 1 day lease and then it will be all mine."

In the past Phil had romantic dreams of opening an 'authentic' Italian restaurant -- this is delusional, of course. He also used to speak quite practically about getting another job. For example, in 2014 he said one reason for choosing to move to WA was that Seattle had a large computer tech industry, so he could always get a job in tech with his Youtube 'experience'.

Some time after the move to WA, however, he admitted that he'll probably never be able to get a traditional job again. I'm not gonna go hunting for the videos, but maybe someone can pull them up. The main excuse seems to be: "There are no jobs."

Of course we can guess the real reasons he'll never get a job:
- He still makes better money on Twitch than most traditional jobs.
- Any job would be entry-level and demeaning.
- He's used to a lifestyle of waking up at noon and playing videogames all day.
- He's pretty screwed: he's in his mid-30s and his résumé has a 10-year gap that employers wouldn't understand.
- He's really screwed: potential employers just have to google him.

As for his actual plans... his 'end goal'? He's going to shuffle his long-term debts around for the next decade to try to avoid bankruptcy and losing his big house, whilst making Kwality Khantent for as long as Twitch and Youtube exist. He says he 'has no Plan B'. He's going to play videogames ahhnline until the day he literally can't any more. Hopefully he can survive like a cockroach until his parents in Connecticut die or get moved to a care home, then he can support himself in old age with the inheritance.

This is Phil's post-nasal drip. I'm not sure if it was diagnosed by a doctor or a self-diagnosis. He says it is permanent and incurable (it's usually not). Get used to it, because it's not going away.

Just saw this and it gave me a good chuckle. Tuesday Phil will not be streaming, but he will be doing a walkthrough of Dspgaming to try to figure out how Youtube's algorithm chooses videos to demonetize. Phil Burnell of all people thinks he will be able to use his street smarts to crack the absurdly complicated code those book smart geeks from Google created solely to ruin his business.

It's funny how he chooses to take off of streaming to do this instead of taking off of watching TV from 11pm-5am.

I admit I haven't read all the leaks but can somebody cliff note for me why everybody including supposed detractors are now coming out of the woodwork to proclaim that recent events have 'made phil look good' and 'phil was right'? We already knew that the Swatting was most likely due to a detractor and phil certainly hasn't let us forget. The false capyright strikes, which frankly I don't give a shit about we also already knew from the beginning was due to people who didn't like phil. So what new revelation makes phil a legit victim? Its just mostly a certain person being a dick to OTHER detractors.

They don't make Phil look good at all. People are just extremely biased against the SoK right now that anything bad against them is accepted because it makes the SoK look even worse to accept it.
Just look on the Kiwi Farms itself, the same people are in the Pol and Fred thread. In one thread Pol is considered severely mentally ill and in the other one he's a hero for exposing Fred. Each thread has it's own narrative and the facts are interpreted to support those narratives. Not much different than what DSP does.

Can't wait to see what conclusion he reaches. Either "They just choose videos at random, dood! It's BROKEN!" or he'll find some really small insignificant thing that threads all of the videos together and say that's the reason.

Either way, good to see Mr. Money (Not) In The Bank is willing to take off of work just to sit at his computer for a few minutes and look at his channel. No doubt he'll spend a few days demanding his chat to make up for the time off.

"Its ok to reveal her medical history because she was no longer with me" You are exceptional Phil, you always find a way to burn bridges, you did it with Laveria,Machinima and now your ex-girlfriend.

Also, why was it logical to explain the emergency? He cloud have said that he had to cut the stream short because of personal reason and leave it at that, but I guess that if he had done that he cloud not have asked for pity money with his sob story about how long he had to wait in the emergency room.

This is another example of something looking fine on paper but when it comes out of Phil's mouth he makes it terrible. All he had to say was "Sorry about leaving so suddenly, Leanna was taken to the hospital but she is back home and ok." What did Phil do? Told an hour long detailed story for sympathy tips on Twitch and clickbait on Youtube. 90% of the story was not even about Leanna it was all about how this experience was so awful for him to go through. Even if they broke up a week earlier this was his fiancee and he showed no emotion over anything other then how expensive the visit would be.

I hope he finds likes vs. dislikes is a factor. It makes sense as advertisers wouldn't want to be associated with things people hate, plus a disliked video is more likely to contain controversial content--though I have seen nothing beyond a bit of anecdotal evidence for this. If Phil were come to the conclusion that this is a cause of demonetization (whether actually true or delusion), the resultant Sycophant-likes versus Detractor-dislikes war would be glorious.
