i haven't followed the trainwreck of DSP for very long, but has he ever been asked if he has any plans for his future besides barely making ends meet? like what his end goal is? in the videos i've watched of him complaining about how he needs to make more money, the idea of a "real job" doesn't even barely get touched on.
In the past Phil had romantic dreams of opening an 'authentic' Italian restaurant -- this is delusional, of course. He also used to speak quite practically about getting another job. For example, in 2014 he said one reason for choosing to move to WA was that Seattle had a large computer tech industry, so he could always get a job in tech with his Youtube 'experience'.
Some time after the move to WA, however, he admitted that he'll probably never be able to get a traditional job again. I'm not gonna go hunting for the videos, but maybe someone can pull them up. The main excuse seems to be: "There are no jobs."
Of course we can guess the
real reasons he'll never get a job:
- He still makes better money on Twitch than most traditional jobs.
- Any job would be entry-level and demeaning.
- He's used to a lifestyle of waking up at noon and playing videogames all day.
- He's pretty screwed: he's in his mid-30s and his résumé has a 10-year gap that employers wouldn't understand.
- He's really screwed: potential employers just have to google him.
As for his actual plans... his 'end goal'? He's going to shuffle his long-term debts around for the next decade to try to avoid bankruptcy and losing his big house, whilst making Kwality Khantent for as long as Twitch and Youtube exist. He says he 'has no Plan B'. He's going to play videogames ahhnline until the day he literally can't any more. Hopefully he can survive like a cockroach until his parents in Connecticut die or get moved to a care home, then he can support himself in old age with the inheritance.
i've also been trying to figure out how he's able to so consistently snort through his streams. he's fat but he's not extremely obese. is he constantly sick/congested? i tried imitating it as a joke and can't manage it.
This is Phil's post-nasal drip. I'm not sure if it was diagnosed by a doctor or a self-diagnosis. He says it is permanent and incurable (it's usually not). Get used to it, because it's not going away.
