That's because there are no good Patreon ideas. Most creators either just give you some sort of special access (like a discord) or do something like a video as a gift. He's been trying to use it the complete wrong way, because no one pledges on Patreon to get content. You pledge on Patreon to support people you want to support, the "rewards" are always some token shit just to say thanks.

I'm even doubting that will continue to happen. His career in making money from videos was over a long time ago and anyone who gives Phil money is basically just delaying the inevitable, he just can't gather this huge fanbase he thinks he'll get.
Relying on these massive one-off tips and cheers is basically the titty streamer business model. Any other male Twitch streamer relies on a massive fanbase who give tiny amounts.

He's obviously not even happy at all, he should just throw in the chips now, declare bankruptcy and hit the fucking reset button. The stress of being in such a dumb situation will do more to take away his health than anything the "detractors" have ever done.

He believes a decrease in subs does not translate to a decrease in overall contribution

Yep exactly. He will never see growth again or any new fans who will support him big time. New people find him boring and gross. He can only try to maintain what he has had. Which isnt working out well, youtube is done. Vidar/The King, jezal, goldencolts are done. He just has to pray at this point he gets some new wales to support him which isn't looking too good

but he has no other option. he cant really hit the reset button because what else could he possibly do for any income? playing video games already takes the life out of him. he has no other skills

I swear back in 2016 I read some article that claimed PayPal was no longer going to honor any refunds for Twitch tipping or Patreon pledges amongst other things, but I've never been able to find it again. I just remember it was well before DSP returned to Twitch in November 2016, let alone going "full-time streamer" & giving up on his 'I can't accept PayPal!' logic shortly after that in early March 2017.
I'd be surprised if these repeated small tips can get refunded, but the obvious way implied in that article is just skipping PayPal entirely & doing a chargeback with the credit card company. If I were a streamer I'd be much more worried about single large out of the blue tips, not lots of small ones.

Ask the King prestream yesterday (which Mrhuth Stuff chopped down to this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XmumpcFHhHs ) had DSP "nervous" so I compared December, January & February to the 22nd. He's lying based on my numbers, I'll bold the highest amount for each category... none are in February.
December 22nd: Twitch income total to this point: Subs ~$453 & cheers ~$1538.32 & tips ~$2068.78 & pet ~$6.50 = ~$4066.60
January 22nd: Twitch income total to this point: Subs ~$752.50 & cheers ~$2973.80 & tips ~$1238.62 & pet ~$0 = ~$4964.92
February 22nd: Twitch income total to this point: Subs ~$534 & cheers ~$2068.66 & tips ~$1208.57 = ~$3811.23

Remember December rockets up on the fundraiser on the 30th so that's why it seems low. February also only includes $5+ visible tips as I'm not even noting down audio only tips from the prestreams I listen to, so tips aren't truly comparable.
Here's November as a 'normal' month, which should track all tips via Nightbot so I'd say it's about the same as the $1200+ tips I see for January & February. The backtaxes reveal was on the 23rd so huge tipping started right after this:
November 22nd: Twitch income total to this point: Subs ~$354.50 & cheers ~$1471.26 & tips ~$1355.35 = ~$3181.11

There are currently 230 people (more or less) watching his stream. That's hilariously sad. Also, checked with the tidyxgamer viewers/chatters thing that gives an idea of potential bots. Only a difference of 20 people right now, which is within the margin of error (<=10%, basically). Phil's normally got a 20% or more difference (which suggests a significant number of not-in-chat viewers, whether bots or otherwise).

I don't understand the appeal behind his "average joe" gimmick. If I wanted to see an average person play videogames I'd watch my friend or my brother play and have a conversation with them without spending 10 cents for them to talk to me.

His "extra virgin, cage-free, no preservatives and grain-fed 100% pure Aryan genes raw" commentaries gimmick is also stupid. I'd rather watch a longplay if I wanted unedited playthroughs, or someone who isn't obnoxious as Phil ruining cutscenes and dialogue.

Phil has always found ways of sliding into new revenue streams whenever one starts to dry up. I was wondering if Soulmaid was another one of the possible easy-money schemes. He's going to have a hard time if this one has a mind of her own.

This is a minor issue in the grand scheme of things, but I'm about 99% sure, based on watching the stream, that Phil is unaware that you can charge attacks in Secret of Mana....literally one of the base mechanics of the game once you can upgrade a weapon.

What the actual fuck?

Edit: Confirmed that he knows to upgrade the weapons. Is either too ignorant to charge the attacks or has made a conscious choice not to. I know what my guess is.

Snort Burnell kind of nailed it in their new vid when they put up $$$POSITIVITY$$$ while he was talking about it. Whenever this dude talks about being 'positive', 'positivity' in stream or 'interaction' (as Tevin pointed out), it's literally code for 'how much money I'm getting' and it's hilarious how transparent it is...

He literally was talking in his prestream TWO DAYS ago about how 'nervous' he's getting, how Patreon was down $400 and he's out a couple hundred bucks due to loss of subs and how he needs that money for 'taxes'! My fucking ass his overall contributions aren't down lol. How can he take a $400 hit on Patreon and have made that up in freaking bit cheers? And if he did, why the 'nervousness'? Goddamn, it's not that he lies that is maddening, it's how fucking shittily he does it that is! It's that super blatant 'look at the balls on THIS fucking guy' type of lying...

EDIT: Of course, @EddyB43 beat me to it in the irrefutable way only he can so, yeah, he's of course lying and locking down any truth that may come out.
