Damn, it's almost like MarzGurl got it the worst.

I'm not saying the Walkers aren't incompetent filmmakers (it's been firmly established at this point that they are), but you'd be amazed just how often stuff like that happen in Hollywood, even in *good* movies.

Even a really great scene can get cut for time, story flow, or even just the whim of the director/editor.

Why was Malcolm the one who addressed the controversy? Malcolm doesn't have a show on that channel (Like Tamara's never seen, Walter's Top 10 lists, or Jim's prop making vids) the most Malcolm has done other than act in reviews is record the making of videos that haven't been a thing in a long ass time.

I think he's largely being honest. Most of what he says is believable: He's part of the small crew that gets paid and is treated better than the producers ever were, and having never got to know any of the complainants it's understandable why he wasn't aware of the abuses and has a favourable opinion of Doug. He's also correct that - flawed and mediocre as Doug's productions are - his job at CA is a rare opportunity for a fresh film graduate in an oversaturated market. He also a professional compunction against getting too lippy with his employer.

That said, I doubt he would've that statement without nudging from the Walkers and Michaud. He may not be a producer, but he's a recognisable face in current CA and Doug has direct access to him at all times. That makes him one of their few PR tools.

I finally cleared five hours of Knudsen and his dissertation of the document and CA's response. Holy fuck, if it isn't grooming minors or leaving contracts entirely out as a step of securing partnerships, it's a completely lonely automated message that pretty much confirms the sheer rhetoric and complicity of Mike Michaud and Doug Walker, ten years of documented abuse and all they could do was get the PR Bot to send a telegram. This is the deepest rabbit hole fucking ever. One idiot quits his job to pursue something that requires year of actual training makes every wrong conceivable decision. No goddamn surprise there. People lost consciousness in the middle of a shoot and no water was there, what is this North Korea?

The rest of the guys? And "angry reviewing" in general? Probably not. Like they themselves said, this was before YouTube exploded and every jackass with a phone wasn't vlogging, and and out of "character". Certainly possible for them to continue making a living, and for newer people to build their little brands, but CA was the "hub" for a lot of people to find that kind of shit. With it being relatively easy to get on YouTube now, with hundreds of people getting started by the day, I highly doubt anyone who wasn't already a big dog at this point will be getting anywhere close at any point.

I think "angry reviewing" can work even nowadays like YourMovieSucksDotCom or RalphtheMovieMaker but those guys have better production than everyone at CA. I think the main issue was that mostly every angry reviewer on the site just wanted to copy what Doug did and to top it off, they had an uglier background, worse sound, a worse camera, and suprisingly having less charisma than Doug Walker which I didn't think was possible. At least MikeJ, CinemaSnob, or FilmBrain didn't scream a lot though.

What I hated about JO's part was that there wasn't anything there. Just, "You fire me and I'll reveal your secrets!" Okay, then what are those secrets? I mean granted, I did think JO handled the situation better than most other producers, but if you're going to tease details like that, then at least say something beyond, "I know what they did!"

JO only had two bullet points in the document (which I believe makes her section the shortest of the document). Her points were basically a lack of detail account of how she "bravely" stood up to them and fended off being fired. Compared to everyone else and the stories that they shared, her's just seems so full of shit and came off as nothing more then her trying to portray herself as a tough guy. If she actually has some chat logs chronicling their abuse, why not release it like everyone else already did?
