The language 'quarantine' isn't coincidental. Attempting to shut down rhetoric isn't the goal. It's to quarantine it. Quarantine it to Gab. Quarantine it to 8chan. Take a big site with a big user population, excise the bad eggs to different sites to stop the spread of wrongthink.

More obscure sites, too. The normal person doesn't use Gab or 8chan. No one's little brother goes up to them and says "Hey, did you see that Gab post Sargon of My Ass made?"

Gab is like the Vimeo or the Dailymotion of social media sites, of course they'd want to strand wrongthinkers to a place where they'd have significantly less influence.

You have fewer choices off of big networks and lots more cost. Companies who handle services (microsoft azure, amazon ws, google) will just as quickly boot users. The infrastructure needed to support and run a modern website (not just db, html, and basic server stuff) is more and more reliant on large companies that are swayed by experts in internet culture from English Literature departments at university.

Keep in mind that it not just her. She works with a group of idiotic humanities educated "c-words" who are fighting to stop the evil activity of not conforming and engaging in joking on the internet. One of her colleagues at "data & society" is a possible-tranny named Whitney Phillips who believes that "trolling as a gendered, privileged activity: 'When you occupy a privileged position, you have the choice whether or not you can take your own word seriously, or the words of others. You can essentially fetishize just punchlines of situations without actually being impacted by racism. You don't have to think about the lives being impacted.'" Phillips has also claimed that "doing it for the lulz" is a form of extremism. The left has lost the "culture war" of the internet. The only way to "win" now is to blow it up so they are the only one playing.

1. It's not 'source-hacking', it's misinformation meant to draw out journalists. Jim's video pointed out that journalists will rush in blindly like sharks to blood. Nowhere in the post does Jim mention Jacksonville, or even a specific video game, yet a journalist tries to slide into the DMs.

It got reinstated shortly after it went down. It's starting to look less and less like that Joan lady did it and more like someone with an axe to grind (pun intended) might have been pulling some strings.

Using "view source" to edit an HTML element is just about the same amount of hacking as opening MS Paint to paste a Hitler 'stache on Trump is "photo doctoring."

Trying to make the mundane sound impressive does not an expert make. Then again her entire pitch seems to be "making dumb people believe really bad lies" so maybe there's just no helping some people.

Anyway, I'm gonna go "source hack" Kiwi Farms into "Happy Hug Forum" while we're still allowed to have any sort of fun or freedom on the internet.
