I don't get this tweet. Mostly because I imagine he made his own conclusion. Savage Dragon already doesn't ship great numbers so any shrinkage will be blamed on "natural trends" and Larson's the type who would brag about his TRUE and HONEST fans still read even if numbers tank to the single digits.

Most people still buying Savage Dragon probably have accepted what it's become. It's a pointless question by a man who doesn't know what to do with his IP or dick.

Jim Lee was on The Howard Stern Wrap-Up show today. The subject of comic diversity came up and Jim gave a canned response about comics changing to reflect the world we live in so a diverse audience can see themselves in comics etc. Funny thing is he says fans are embracing it but the sales suggest otherwise.

He says it happened too slow too. I wonder when these guys will pull their heads out of their asses, when they’re out of work?

So how fast is fast enough? Most of the nuMarvel characters came out in around 2 years at most from each other. If it started in 2014 than the push succeeded in replacing the A-listers by 2016. Some of these have reverted but I'm not sure how you make this faster, especially if you want these characters to have any impact.

So, I haven't ever read Savage Dragon or anything but I remember the covers and have seen some panels.

Um. For a green guy... is it me or does his design this time seem... a little black-ish? Especially compared to how he used to look?

Then again I have trouble telling you humans apart sometimes.

EDIT: Also their pet names for each other. Just... holy shit!

Does anyone know the name of Diversity and Comics comic that he wrote?
I wanna read it just for curiosity or if it isn't released then wait till it's released and then give a review of it.

Which one?
Iron Sights is the one shipping out now.
Jawbreakers Lost Souls is the one he's shipping soon.

He also released one called "Chosin" that was published a while ago, before the YouTube channel.

Iron Sites is his black and white graphic novel, that is just starting to ship. The early backers got theres the rest will be in peoples hands this month.

Jawbreakers is the better known one. It's the full color super hero one. I think he is finalizing inspection of the final proofs to go to the printers so that will likely be shipping later this year.

I don’t know if his point was it should have happened faster in the last 2 years or 20.

He made sure to point out comics were started by those dang dirty white Jewish men in NYC and needed to change.

That's not the Savage Dragon, that's Malcolm Dragon, the son of the Savage Dragon and Rapture. If he looks black-ish, its because he's half black, half dragon.

Oh! Ok. Thanks for the explanation. :like:

Well if it's got an in-story reason then that makes sense.

Ok, not really because of hybridization challenges but we can ignore that for comics.

I agree that increasing representation should be a priority. Showing diverse heroes is incredibly valuable, Gene Roddenberry did more on his own than these fucksticks have all done together.

However the way they’ve gone about it is fucking insulting. Like one step above singing Mammy to transform into Shazam.

I’m with the earlier poster who mentioned that these “woke” creators live and work in environments that make apartheid South Africa look like a melting pot.

Is that for real? It's legitimately hilarious, which I suspect is not the intent.

Yep. It was in the mid 2000s run of Justice League. The best part? In the last panel, Vixen is telling him, "You absolutely can't", even though the previous panel has no dialogue. However, due to a printing or editor error, what he was supposed to be saying was "So, can I use the n-word now?"

I like it without that dialogue, actually - like she can tell even by his expression what he's going to say and is shutting it down.

This may be :optimistic:, but I've thought that it has to be tongue-in-cheek, because at least that page doesn't seem to take the idea seriously. But then, I've no idea what else they did with the character/concept.
