Since Bare Bears was mentioned, i just wanted to say a thing real quick. There is in-universe joke about the bears having actual "human counterparts", and they look like this.

Thus it's common in fanon to humanize Grizz as brown, panda as chinese/asian and polar as white. Of course, that doesnt stop tumblr from taking their own "liberties" like that previous terrible art or this trans(?)/vitiligo/scarred one.

Pastel tan skin and lumpy bodies aside, this drawing highlights the problem with lazy tumblr artists more than the smug virtue-signalling ones.

The blush just looks wrong, and I blame that on the brush used to draw it. The loose, textured brushstrokes clash with the simplified, thick-lined look the artist is going for. Plus they didn't even bother shading the rest of the piece, which just makes them stick out more.

Even the way it was colored sucks - the blush leaks through the lineart, and the flats were clearly colored in using the magic wand tool and paint bucket. The wand tool is great for filling in lineart instantly, but it's best to fill in any gaps missed by the selection manually. You can tell the artist didn't do that because the lineart (most noticeably around London's hair and Maddie's top) just kinda sits next to the colors.

TL;DR This person can't use Photoshop for shit and probably whipped this up in 10 minutes. I wonder how many tumblr artists draw out of a need for validation and acceptance, not passion. Do they really enjoy warping beloved characters to fit their political agenda, or do they do it as a means of fitting in?
