Akilah is probably trying to make this go away at this point and the delays are over settlement negotiations. The fact that she went summary judgement so freaking fast due to Benjamin failing to respond (even though he was served improperly) pretty much proves she did not want expensive and long term litigation. She is probably trying to at least get a guilt admission out of him but since Benjamin has almost 100,000 pounds sterling in 4chan shekels he has no reason to not fight it out. So now Akilah is looking at an actual trial she will most likely lose. And a federal lawsuit involving citizens of different countries is obscenely expensive. At best she gets to throw good money after bad and at worse her entire suit is declared frivolous and she has to pay Benjamin's attorney fees.

Neither option is good. Going to be interesting to see if she caves.

as far as I can tell, nothing major is happening atm, but it is still going on.
 
My money is still on tense settlement negotiations. It's not like this case is complex. Did Carl's YouTube video violate copyright or not. It's not even really something that requires a jury. This case will almost certainly end in summary judgement. So long as the parties are arguing amongst themselves the court will give them however much time they need until one of them actually asks it to do something. I dont think they have even gotten to discovery yet on this though I could be wrong.

Wouldnt that mean both parties are gonna pay thier lawyers a ton of money?
 
The last real activity took place in May last year. Benjamin has a motion to dismiss based on fair use and it's been fully briefed (opposed by Akhila Hughes and Reply filed by Benjamin). Under ordinary circumstances, the Court should have ruled on that motion at least seven or eight months ago.

There is nothing to indicate why the Court hasn't ruled. There isn't even a referral to a magistrate or notice that the Court is taking it under submission. This could have simply fallen off the Court's calendar (rare, but it happens).

So on June 7, 2019, the attorney for Benjamin wrote the Court a letter with "new authority" that says the Court can dismiss based on fair use. You can get this letter if you click on the "view on pacer" link. This goes directly to the Court's actual docket. In my view, the letter was meant to jog the Court into ruling on the motion (it's like a very, very polite reminder that there is a pending motion).

Say what you like about Sargon, he's survived in the UK legal environment for some time, without ever being dragged into court to face a libel/slander/harrassment case like what happened to Katie Hopkins. He's not stupid and is more than capable of securing decent legal advice and taking it.

Akilah Hughes on the Other hand mentioned the case in at least two videos, one being a hissy fit when she found out about the GoFundme. I doubt she thought to ask her Lawyers advice before posting them.

She'll have done what a lot of people do when involved in legal disputes, she'll have gone out and found a lawyer that acted like her friend, told her how wonderful she was, all the while billing her for every minute.
 
Surely enough time has passed that this lawsuit can be thrown into the bin. Seems like she's filed this lawsuit and done nothing with it since. It's not like Carl has been shitting himself over this lawsuit like others do when he's been running around making himself look like an international joke and having milkshakes and fish thrown at him.
