Not sure about GoFundMe, but he made an independent donation, I can’t see a problem. The only thing I’ve seen is that Nick’s gone on record to say he hasn’t given legal advice (whatever that means)

It's kind of a pre-req that you make it absolutely clear that you aren't giving legal advice, so there's no misinterpretation of what you're saying/can't be misconstrued as such.

Basically, a lot of legal knots. People try to squeeze free advice into "a lawyer told me to do this!" and use it as carte blanche, so it's just covering your ass by stating it.

Yeah it was and that's what I meant. I think we're missing each others points a bit, so I'll be more clear. I don't think there's anything ethically stopping Nick from donating to the GFM directly besides it being a potential target because of the TOS if he does (I do not recall Nick saying he or Ty could get disbarred at all,so that's news to me if it is). He can give as much money as he wants privately though

I actually have had conversations with people where they have flat out said they don't care about Vic, and they don't care about what he wants. That they are just donating because they don't like the lefties, and want to see people cry etc.

So, play to your audience I guess.

Most of the ISWV audience is fine, it just seems a lot of the dedicated donators are Chads

I don't do the superchat thing, but I have donated to Vics GFM. I was watching Nick's streams for several months before this Vic stuff really took off. Back when he was floating at around 4-500 viewers on a peak night. I have no interest in anime and had no idea who Vic was, but I have seen far too much of this "progressivism" and trial-by-social media bullshit. Something seemed different about this. The line was finally drawn, so I decided to pay attention and help.

I assumed Nick meant a lawyer misappropriating funds for billing when concerning the IOLTA, but now that you've brought it up, I'm not actually sure if that would count. I feel like it shouldn't though.

I know SenpaisHome has been on the ISWV side of things, but it seems really stupid to call out people for plugging their YT channels, when that's literally what he and other YTs (who have been siphoning content from Nick) are doing.

Screwing with the IOLTA means embezzling from the IOLTA. Using client funds in ways other than to pay the clients well documented and invoices legal bills. You do not intermingle accounts. You do not intermingle client accounts with office accounts or personal accounts. That is the easiest way for a lawyer to get disbarred. But just so we are clear, Nick has no way to do that. Nick cannot touch the IOLTA. Not simply legally, he has no access to the funds in any way shape or form. He is not a principal of BHBH. He is not a signatory to the accounts. The GFM pays into the IOLTA and only the IOLTA. Nick cannot change that. He cannot withdraw or redirect money.

Nick does not donate to the GFM because internet rules lawyers might claim it is an attempt to seed or fluff up the GFM. Something that GFM’s admins watch for as it can be a sign of fraud. That’s not really applicable in this case, as it is normally used to trick investors by making a project or product appear better funded than it is. But he’s playing it safe.

To be fair that was more or less my opinion when this whole thing started. I couldn't have cared less whether Vic was actually a jerk or not, I was just pretty sure he wasn't anywhere near as bad as he was being slandered as.

Subsequently, though, he has turned out to be a really stand up solid guy and I personally respect him now, too. I'm glad to have picked the right side.

Apparently, you missed WHY he was calling that sped out. It's because that sped plugged his YT Channel as he confronted Sabat and Schemmel at a con. Senpai was berating that sped for trolling at a convention panel and using the opportunity to be an attention whore.
Which goes against what Vic and Nick have said not to do.

People have criticized Nick, TUG, YellowFlash et al for their techniques and marketing, hell.. Nick even had a livestream to address the "State of the community" and basically said "So what?" when asked about it.

Yeah, it's stupid to go make a fool of yourself at a convention - but the YT hero likely doesn't care about that, he just wants the e-clout. It's the ugly side of ISWV; for all the good it does, that side does have it's share of grifting shills also.

TUG, Yellow Flash, Hero Hei et al aren't marching up to Jamie Marchi, Monica Rial, Chris Sabat or any other VA and confronting them at a convention just to shill their YouTube accounts.

I'm not disagreeing with you on the intent, I'm disagreeing with you on the methodology.
I'm not talking about how the ISWV YT crew conduct themselves on social media, I'm saying trying to say they are not going the Logan Paul exceptional route like this sped did. There is no hypocrisy because THEY HAVE NOT DONE THE SAME EXACT THING AS THIS SPED.
