Seriously though, I read the chat log between YKW and Meowthkip. Sure it was intense but these people are taking it way too seriously. Are they not aware that "whup your ass" has other meanings besides "literally take out a whip and give your child 40 lashes"? And why do they think a friend threatening suicide isn't a big deal? They act like that doesn't warrant an emotional response at all.

That explains why they're all so upset that an adult took an authoritative tone with a child. You didn't say anything abusive in the chatlog. It was all very blunt and harsh. A stern talking-to, basically. It's also worth noting that YKW could have logged out of Steam at any time to escape the conversation.

Is it really a violent impulse if you don't act on it in any way? Telling someone to kill themselves online is a douchey thing to do, but it's hardly a 'violent impulse.' A violent impulse is when you think your spouse is cheating on you so you hit or physically threaten them.

Even if Vade does have these impulses, that's not an excuse for her behavior. Part of living with mental illness is learning how to manage it. If you allow yourself to be constantly manipulated by your own delusions then you're not managing it and you need help.

I cannot even put into words how much "men can't be raped" pisses me off. I've never been a victim of rape, but Christ... It's like saying "men can't be mugged" except instead of losing your wallet you get scarred for life.

It's sexism. It's bigotry. It's not okay.

EDIT: I just thought of something. If power + non-consensual sex = rape, then by tumblr's own definition men can be raped because in order to force someone into non-consensual sex you have to have power over them.

Impulse is defined as "a sudden strong and unreflective urge or desire to act," e.i. the desire itself, not the action taken. As you pointed out in you second paragraph, part of living with a mental illness that causes or exacerbates bad impulses is learning control (speaking from personal experience), something that makes it painfully obvious many of these Tumblr-Tards aren't really mentally ill.
At least not the illnesses they claim to have.

I've spent my entire life learning how to control my violent impulses, and my partner (who is actually professionally diagnosed aspd) has spent his entire life (especially since his probation) learning to control his. Neither of us go around telling people to kill themselves. There's a big difference between being mentally ill (or having a PD) and just being an asshole. My guess would be that Alyssa is the latter.

Even if we assume Vade actually has all of the mental illnesses they claim to, they've never shown a single sign of remorse or trying to improve themselves.

As far as I'm concerned that's the difference between Vade and someone with a mental illness who's still a decent person. If Vade genuinely showed remorse for their actions and stopped using mental illness an excuse for being an abusive little turd, then with time this would all go away.

But they won't, because whether or not Vade is mentally ill/has a personality disorder, Vade is also an asshole. And it was only inevitable that people started wising up.

Therapy, particularly CBT, teaches people to identify unhelpful thoughts or practices. Once you learn to spot the warning signs it can help a great deal.

Or it would if the individual made an effort to deal with their condition in the first place.

It would also be useful if they had a professional diagnosis. Even if by some quirk of fate they pick correctly, self diagnosis doesn't allow access to medication or therapy unless they are a doctor in the first place.

TLDR - Vade is sabotaging her own wellbeing due to laziness and willful ignorance.

The whole "men can't be raped!" Arguments make me want to burn tumblr down. I remember when I first joined in 2010, it was quiet, about fandoms, some meta-drama,it was like 4chan lite. but as livejournal died off the batshit feminazis jumped over to tumblr and shit up the place. They had their own little containment field for 2 years but now you can offend anybody and be whatever you want because 'you're special!'. I just avail the day tumblr gets their shit together and bans all the toxic idiots like Vade and tells them to fuck off.

But that would be never as hahaha tumblr doing something good. Yahoo would probably pull it's plug than fix the cause of their lost revenue.
