This is such a popular sjw thing now and it drives me fucking nuts. I'm an equestrian and one of these sj nerds whom i thought was a friend called me an animal abuser and all kinds of stuff because riding is, in their minds, animal abuse. Except for the part where most signs point to it being beneficial for the horses, if you do it right of course. But this kid had ridden a horse one time and decided they knew more than me.

Anyway. My point is, sjws/tumblr folk of Vade's breed have started this thing where they try to nitpick and act as high and mighty as possible about animals without actually knowing that much about them or having much real world experience with them. I guess it's another appealing soapbox for them to climb onto, and a great way to pretend they're overflowing with empathy. Except for the part where I really doubt they go outside often enough for these things to be relevant to their lives.

If Vade owns a dog, I seriously think they should actually consider doing things like going to dog parks with it and stuff regularly. Dogs are great weight loss tools and maybe it would keep Vade off the internet for like a week.

They self-diagnose and feel this is superior to real diagnosis by qualified medical professionals.

That they feel they know better than everyone should be a fairly straightforward thing.

I thought that maybe I could make some kind of difference, foolishly, which is why I said anything at all. I mean, I was trying to give her advice... What good that did, right? Still, I'll keep an eye on her. Since my main account was blocked, I'd have to piss around on a mule, and I don't post on mules.

I can say that, last I checked, she hasn't posted anything since our little PM conversation, but I'll check up on her every so often and see if anything new has come up.

To be fair I hate "it" pronouns as much as the next person, it's worth noting that "they" is still a solid alternative. Also like the not-birthname thing. Shrug, I'm just humouring the notion that Vade might actually identify as non-binary. Having been on the receiving side of being misgendered and misnamed (it sucks 0/10 do not recommend) I don't wanna do that to anyone, not even sentient pond scum like Vade. That's as far as I'll bend for this clown, though.

Also the mentality behind it is that while calling someone an "it" is generally regarded as degrading and harmful (which it is), it's magically made ok if someone says they like those pronouns. Most do have the sense to include auxiliary pronouns (typically they) for the sake of those who are rightfully uncomfortable with addressing someone in that manner.

Honestly when people demand it or nounself pronouns a lot of it seems like a case of them gauging how high they can make people jump on command.

I have two dogs. One is a dachshund, and one is a mutt. Probably a mix between a basset hound and a retriever. It's not a big dog, though. Probably the size of, like... A collie? Anyway, my dad has been buying special food for my dachshund, which is non-grain, because we think she might have an allergic reaction to it. We've been giving the same food to my other dog, but he's ridiculously hyperactive. My mom read somewhere that dogs that are fed non-grain diets tend to be hyperactive, and for my mutt, who's also a puppy, we can't afford having him even more hyperactive than he is. So no, Alyssa, sometimes grain-based diets are necessary, but you wouldn't fucking know that since you don't take care of your own fucking dogs.

Edit 2: I just checked on Google and it would appear that the opposite of what I said above is true. But that is just a cursory search. I might check more later. It is possible that my mom somehow misread... Which wouldn't be shocking.

Lord knows I've ranted about this on Tumblr enough, but I strongly believe people who demand "it" pronouns are doing one of two things: demanding that people enable depressive behavior (feeling subhuman), or trying to bait people into saying something that sounds transphobic so they can then white-knight the person (or not depending on if they're feeling generous that day, in which case your reputation as a decent person is dependent on the "it"'s whims). Both of these are horribly unhealthy and amount to pulling everyone around you into your antisocial and self-destructive behavior. At this point I won't interact with anyone who wants to be called "it" and I don't really care if they have auxiliary pronouns because those are usually nounself and stupid as fuck.
