You're also pretty much spot on except for this part. It really varies between individuals. Sometimes you see people who are opportunistic bingers and take/plan for whatever moment they can engage in behaviors. For instance, if a child is keeping their eating disorder a secret from their guardians and hoard up binge food so they can engage in a binge and/or bp session once the guardians are away. That takes premeditated planning, even if you're in a lucid state. Although people with untreated eating disorders hardly ever are bc the urges to engage in behaviors are always there. It heavily depends on why a person engages in behaviors in the first place (i.e. a form of self harm, coping, boredom, the sensations, the tastes, etc) to figure out how and when they go about showing symptoms of the disorder.
You're right, I didn't really take that into consideration. My line of thought was more related to independent adults with ED who live alone or with people who know about their condition.
But you and OP are both right to suggest that it's still weird that Amber feels the need to plan her binges. She's not hiding her behavior from anyone in that house, especially because the food she binges on is blatantly displayed in the kitchen. But it may also be that she may wait until she's home alone to engage in them. And since she doesn't drive and can't walk over to the Dollar Tree, she has to hoard the food that she believes she'll want once she has the opportunity to engage in behavior without anyone walking in on her.
Amber waiting to be home alone could be true, but at the same time so much of her behavior just makes it seem like she has no shame when it comes to her binges. For one, her mukbang videos. People with binge eating disorders are ashamed of it, and there's no way in the world they'd film themselves binging for the public to see (obviously not everyone but I'm willing to bet it's 99%). As well as the fact that she goes out to eat so often. She could just order delivery or even go to a restaurant and order food for takeaway then go back home, but nearly every single day she goes out to sit at restaurants and eat thousands of calories knowing probably every other person in that restaurant is judging her. I don't think any person with an eating disorder could actually handle this, and "the temptation of food surpasses the potential embarrassment" isn't a good excuse in my opinion because of the simple fact of how easy it is to get junk food delivered to your house and eaten in solitude, like I mentioned.
Again I could totally believe that she only binges when she's home alone and maybe she worded things badly and it came out sounding like she has an agenda for every binge (I wouldn't be surprised, we all know Amber isn't exactly a maestro with words) but the overall context of everything she does just makes me so suspicious.
