I mean, most people who are really in to video games that I know are pretty technical and used to solving technical issues. I mean games are buggy, yes even consoles and console games get fucked up from time to time, so a key part of being a "gamer" is handling trouble shooting to fix issues.

In a way playing a video game is trouble shooting in it's self, you're looking for solutions that will get you to the next phase of the game. Mind you that might be a stretch but still it's not at all out there to think of "gamers" as generally very tech savvy people, doubly so for anyone who gets in to PC gaming.

Even the people I know who aren't super into games have some capacity for trouble shooting. Game not working? Pull it out and put it back in. Still not working? Clean the disk/cart. Still not working? Clean the tray/slot. Still not working? Better call someone who knows better.

Christ, you don't need to know how to program in binary to fix issues with a PS4. I have one and 99% of the time that there are issues it's a loose cord or a connection issue.

I honestly don't know which I believe more: that he exaggerates these issues to avoid playing games or that he legitimately can't go through the most basic steps of problem solving because he lacks any capacity for logical thought.

Most of those FPS parkour videos do. From what I understand, they're used for source players to practice movement and shit; but there seems to be a large player base that do nothing but these movement/challenge room things. Bigger sped runners than sped runners.

There's some major salt tonight since Phil is actually losing some games. Naturally, it's not his fault and the guy beating him is a lagging scrub. Never mind that you can't see any actual lag.

Edit: Quits the lobby after getting dominated ("WAAAAH HE COUNTERPICKED") and claiming lag. His "proof" was apparent sound desync while watching another person's match, because obviously the game is going to focus on the watchers' connection and not the players' connection. Also desperately trying to get people to do another hype train, including explicitly pointing out that the cooldown timer was done.

Also is playing this version of SF because it's the only version on console with people playing on it. And because people just DEMAND that he play fighting games, he has to play something, so he picks the game he hates. He certainly couldn't try any newer fighting games like Samurai Showdown.

I've tried watching some of his Dragonball FighterZ and Mortal Kombat 11 gameplay and it's just the same shit, muh dropped inputs and ahnline lahg
Has anyone ever asked him why no other streamer ever complains about these issues? At least not as frequently?

Yeah, he just calls them shills that have to pretend the experience is good to keep their shekels coming in.

No, he always busts out the excuses. It's also why he won't do something like Fightcade or offline tournaments. No dropped input or lag excuses. EvilAJ also got into his lobby tonight and smoked him 2 times. Pretty sure AJ also threw the 1st round (Phil busted out a "ROCKED") before destroying Phil in the final two rounds.

Phil’s Internet history has made it clear he doesn’t like and has never like fighting games besides street fighter 2 and marvel vs capcom 2. He has hated and complained about every single other fighting game to varying degrees

I'd be willing to say he enjoyed SF4 in its first year or so; before the scene found all the really good tech and he couldn't win most fights. Outside of Street Fighter, he really doesn't seem to enjoy other fighting games to outright refusing to play most anime fighters (Dragon Ball FighterZ is the exception). He probably got MKX and MK11 because they're big names and people would be willing to watch/donate if he played. As for why he'd never play Samurai Showdown; he'd be murdered in it, literally. That game is nothing but footsies, neutral tech, and taking advantage of your enemy's mistake; with insane amounts of damage. It'd be no different from him trying to play Virtua Fighter; that game may only have three buttons, but those guys have been playing that shit for damn near 30 years and will wreck you.
