She's awake and tweeting, but radio silence on the ruling.

Akilah wanted $46,000 from Sargon to settle.

He made out like a bandit. He raised $122k and is asking for $38k in attorney's fees.

In the hearing on March 9th, 2018, the judge indicated that Akilah was going to lose. He talked about how he went to college with Jon Stewart and was familiar with his show, how he would play a clip and his only commentary might be a shocked expression on his face.

I wonder what she makes. I doubt she has to pay her lawyer that much more than Sargon does unless she had to find a shyster lawyer because the case was shit.

I wonder if someone helped her fund the legal case, it's become a thing in recent years where people with money that want to fuck with someone, will fund other peoples legal action, look at what Peter Thiel did to Gawker.

Leonard French in his video said that Sargon's legal team wrote to Akilah early on to say they would seek costs, to discourage her, she hasn't helped herself by tweeting things, such as asking her supporters to sabotage public events, by playing music so they could be copyright stuck.

French seemed pretty impressed by the way the application for costs was written. I think if nothing else Sargon picked the right legal firm, where as Akilah apparently hired and fired lawyers.

She was initially represented by Morrison & Lee. They filed the complaint against Sargon. Ryan Morrison is internet famous as the Video Game Attorney and his firm defended H3H3 when they were sued by another YouTuber for using his clips in their video. Both Akilah and H3H3 ended up replacing Morrison & Lee with new council.

Fun fact: The judge in the H3H3 case ruled that their video was "quintessential" fair use. The judge in Akilah's case used those exact words at an initial conference.

Ngl that was a pretty witty response even if she's lying.

So she got a few hundred in free booze, in a room with people who don't know her or care about her at all, and a legal bill that's nearly a person's salary for year.

On the other hand, Sargon has legions of folks who care about him, were willing to give him money, won a lawsuit against him that was frivolous, ran for office (lost hard), and more people know who he is than who AkitaKohen ever will be.

Free Drinks vs. Living Rent free in your head for life.

I watched some of Akilah's videos. The impression I got was that she was someone with zero skill or interest in video production that was somehow getting 'friends' or acquaintances to produce videos with quite high production values, all for a brief credit in the outro.

I don't think Akilah would be stupid enough to spend her own money on this case, I think someone that wanted to fuck with Sargon picked up the bill. I also think she's smart enough that she's covered for his costs as well.

Also this was pretty much the end of Akilahs YouTube career, she's made half a dozen videos in the last 2 years most of them attached to Twitter or Instagram posts where she's more active.
