Another thing to note. As this virus travels, will be interesting to see how places like Las Vegas deal with it. If you ask me, the casino environment is a great place to spread this virus. Will also be interesting to see how brothels, night clubs, bars, etc. deal with the virus. Could you imagine Las Vegas looking as empty as Wuhan?

I, too, wonder about if since I had a possible fever and head symptoms that fizzled and lingered and weren't abysmal but were indeed strange, along with another person who went through the same thing, if there have been less severe strains or inoculations already abound somehow. On a different subject, when we have rationing we will also have black marketing and price gouging. Should any country impose rationing, it should happen with only a few hours' prior notice to limit the hoarders. Means you've already worked out the mechanics of the rationing system, decided what needs to be rationed, and if need be determine priorities for the supplies available. Might be better to ration a bunch of things, then as supplies improve take them off the ration, instead of rationing just a few things and having to add more. So if you are doing some pre-emptive buying, buy what you need or are likely to need instead of taking everything in the hope of making big bucks price-gouging. The condition will not be permanent, and people will remember who charged them $2000 for a $500 laptop.

This isn't really all that surprising. The stress diathesis model is a pretty widely supported theory, and being on lock-down in a commie hellhole while people are dying all around you while you're worried about starving to death would be a pretty major stressor.

I know it's probably stupid but I'm starting to lose sleep over this, I had plans in summer to take a trip up country to see a friend but now I'm really starting to wonder if there will even be free travel in summer in the US, or if my money will even hold the same value by that point. I AM probably over reacting right now and I'll probably be fine but... man I finally get to the point where I can fend for myself a bit I got a job and shit now the worlds ending... Just my fucking luck.

Lets just hope the theory that it'll mutate into a highly contagious but ineffective sickness comes to fruition or that it really isn't so bad for the average westerner that doesn't breath in pollution that damages your lungs more than pack a day smoking. Was the reinfection causing heart attacks thing ever confirmed to be true or do we not know?

Has anybody put out any good projections on how this is going to effect Hollywood long term? There's been lots of speculation in this thread about manufacturing but I haven't seen anyone talk about the movie industry. I know this is incredibly low on the list of priorities in the long run, but as we all know Hollywood has been fellating China for the last decade or so. I already know they missed out on a bunch of revenue from everyone staying home for Chinese New Year.

Especially because the most China-pandering movie yet comes out next month. I'm morbidly curious to see how Mulan does in the midst of this.

It's too early to panic. The best advice for this, or daily life in general is: worry about what you can control. You can't stop this from becoming a pandemic, spreading to the US, breaking down society, etc--if it even does. So do what you can to have some contingency plans, some what if's. If you want to buy shit, buy shit you'll already use, maybe just a longer supply of it.

Will we have armed troops and state troopers at state borders this summer? Will plane travel be shut down? Trains and buses? Who knows. But don't cancel your trip now. If anything, if it starts to get dicey, this could be the last time you get to see your friend for 2 years.

Also remember knowledge is power, and this thread seems to be one of the best places aggregating uncensored, accurate news days to weeks before it hits the mainstream. We will have advance notice over the average bear to buy shit, head for the hills, hoard gold, etc. So there's no need to panic now. If a time comes to panic, you'll have advance warning.
