Would the alert disappear if the quote was removed? I saw the alert over an hour after it came through?

Based on my own experience, I think the alerts are made only when the quoting/tagging post is first published. That is, removing the quote/tag in a later edit doesn't remove the alert (I think), and adding quoted/tagged users in during an edit doesn't alert them, even during the grace period (I think).

I suppose we can test it right now. Before I've edited: quoting Kosher Salt!

was having this same issue just now but I swear to Dog I was able to use the drink emote a bit ago
