Saw this clip on ABC news. Patient I guess went into cardiac arrest? They revived him with defribulator and hes on a ventilator. But the weird thing was after they used the defribulator they all suddenly stepped back and raised their hands (like when police say to come out with hands up). It was weird. Is this normal procedure when reviving patients?

You don't want to be touching the patient when they receive the shock. It can spread from the patient to you and, well, it's enough of a shock that it can affect heart rhythm, by definition.

Is there more on that? How does a judge even get standing to issue such an order?

I'm not entirely sure why it's called that since it isn't actually a judicial position, but she's the Chief Executive for Harris County. I can only assume the position is called County Judge for some historical reason, but I prefer to think it's just Texas being Texas.

It's where the Purple Drank was invented, so I assume there's a healthy (as in sizable) black population.

Houston's something like 45% Latino and 25% black.

So Trump pretty much said opening GA is too soon to Kemp. There's also people critizing GA can't open because GA 'needs more testing' even though its already proven people are asymptomatic and had the virus already. I don't think this is some 'sacrifices have to be made' but I don't think ANY state can stay in total lockdown forever for a vaccine unless they want to put a total dip on the economy. I can see a bunch of state governors being stupid but there really is no good options at this point. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

When these types go on about "we can't sacrifice lives by sending people to work! That's evil!" ask them about the lives of food supply chain workers, the people who keep the electricity running, sanitation workers and any other critical infrastructure workers. Because they're 100% ok with sacrificing people's lives if they think it's for the greater good, just as long it's not them. They absolutely malfunction when you bring this up.
Couple of the guys in my gaming group are like this. Absolutely infuriating, since they just do not shut the fuck up about how stupid people are for wanting to work to earn a living. You point out what you said, or point out they can continue to voluntarily quarantine throughout may if they feel they are in danger, and they flip the fuck out on you (it should be noted all of them have the privilege of jobs that pay them through this whole ordeal, including OT).

Most notably is their comment "I just have empathy for my fellow man". It's an asinine statement. As if caring that people dont go hungry or homeless dont care for their fellow man, or people whoa re concerned with government overreach and constitutional violations dont care about their fellow man. Unless you 100% agree with them, you're worse then Trump.

I can already see this becoming a political tool come November. They are attempting the same manipulation of words that they use against anyone who doesnt fully agree with open borders, single payer healthcare, $15 minimum wage, abortion and many other wedge issues; "You care about the SICK/CHILDREN/POOR/ECE dont you? I do, thats why I support X and if you dont you're literally hitler!".

Saliva is more sensitive for SARS-CoV-2 detection in COVID-19 patients than nasopharyngeal swabs (archive) -- from a medical journal

I think we found the answer as to why people were suddenly being tested positive for COVID-19 after "recovering" and being "tested negative."

Turns out a saliva sample is far more sensitive for detecting the virus than that really uncomfortable swab procedure. I bet that a lot of these people being tested positive again just got false negatives all along.

Granted, the doctors in South Korea with these patients in question said that it was probably because of fallible testing ... Looks like there's quite a bit of a confirmation now.

Good news.

A guy I know that I can never again see as a friend went full paranoid Karen on people as soon as the shelter in place thing was announced, and now if there's any mention of cancellations due to Corona he's first in line to ass kiss with a hearty "You're doing the right thing!" Do I need to mention he's on disability and doesn't have to work? He likes food though, so we'll see how long the attitude holds up if the factory where M&Ms are made shuts down for good.

On any Medical Show you always get that shout of "Clear!". It's not entirely drama. Your pumping 300 Watts into a body. Anybody in contact with said body will be in for the shock of their life. Modern Defib units don't have the traditional paddles anymore. Instead they use 2 big sticky electrode patches. But you still have to make sure everybody is Clear of the body before you push the button. Standard training is everybody holds up their hands to indicate they are not touching the patient or the stretcher. You need to know where everyone's hands are before you shock. So th epeople doing CPR step back and put their hands up.

Oh and pro tip for those who grew up watching the old "Emergency" TV show and used to watch Johnny Gage rub the paddles together to spread the conductive gel on them. Yeah in real life you only ever do that once before learning very quickly not to ever do that again.

The nurses and doctors are the real super heroes

These pictures are really fucking to start to piss me off. I'm with y'all doctors and nurses but fuck...some of us have been making life changing sacrifices as well. Not one circlejerk picture of the grocers or the farmers keeping us fed during these times.

I realy dont get the freak out some have... most factories in germany are just working with reduced personal, i even dont have to work, but will have to go to some seminar about fire fighter communication next week. most shops have opened again and people are pretty chill.

gathering in large groups outside is still a nono, but the police doenst cares because everyone knows that its not realy a problem because the sun and wind will take away the wuuu fluuu

In the US it's not about the illness anymore. It's about political power and advantage going into the November Presidential Election. The Dems actually want to crater the economy and force a depression in order to bring about their Socialist goals.

ohh yeah, they are braindead...
good for me, my bonus will get alot better if we get alot more market share in the us... you always need base chemicals...

So here's a sobering thought. Some idiots have touted how great Sweden has been doing and we should've been like Sweden in our lockdown response.

In a country of just 10.5 million they're suffering 650+ deaths a day.

To translate that into how it would've panned out in the UK? Which is on 800 or so deaths a day with a population six times the size?

It'd be 3,900 deaths a day.

HA! Figures the Chinks would get us all leading off with an unnecessarily uncomfortable swab that doesn't even work as well as just sticking your tongue out.

That's what happens when your society is fundamentally opposed to human dignity.

Every single politician is a cretin. There are no exceptions.

These pictures piss me off because they're trite condescending garbage. Like, oh, I drew a childish picture of spiderman bowing to a nurse, I'm helping! Like it's almost offensive that they'd think some medical worker would be flattered or encouraged or whatever by this.
