You know, I actually agree that the police shouldn't always be the primary ones on point for every single mental health call, they've been spread too thin for years now being the only responders while lacking the proper tools and training for it. But police still need to actually be there to provide backup, same as how they secure unsafe scenes for actual paramedics and firefighters. Seems like they're going to let it get to the point when the first 'public safety social worker' ends up bleeding out in the street from a call because 'deescalation' isn't just a magic word you can use that cops don't out of pure spite before they realize the answer isn't 'no or less police', but 'not only police'.This part is going to come back to bite her in such obvious ways, I can't even call it a prediction.
