Rhys goes on to claim he once had a mysterious soft-tissue infection ("with a fuck-tonne of pus") that almost costed his life. Where do you bet the abscess was, if the ER doc felt unsure about treating it?
9.png
I'm not sure whether it is appropriate to treat a "life-threatening infection" with out-patient antibiotics. Speaking of, I cannot think of an i.v. antibiotic that can be given q24h. Empirical treatments for abscesses, such as beta-lactams and aminoglycosides, are given every 6 or 8 hours.

41.png

Please just never have this take.

Everyone is developing on what came before...and we apply new tools today to what came before.

It's happened to me and my work on gaslighting. You know what I did? I took it on board and evolved my views in light of the criticism.

One of Safiya's complaint (against a grad student with <200 twitter followers btw) was that the student used the concept of 'misogynoir' which wasn't 'availaible in 2012' when Safia finished a work. But this is what we're always doing, especially in the 'leftie' academic sub-disciplines. Trans studies is now picking apart queer studies.

Yeah, trans studies wouldn't exist w/o queer studies.

But that doesn't mean that we can't legitimately take our newly developed hermeneutical resources (SEE WHAT I DID THERE) and sharply criticize what came before those resources were developed.

In fact, it's pretty terrible feminist praxis NOT to!

This strikes me as a take that expects some amount of veneration and kumbaya in feminist discourse that...has NEVER existed...basically as a matter of feminit praxis!

That's what deconstructionism *is*: to take the old gods and destroy them with the tools of the present.

Like, if you ever refer to younger academics as 'woke' then...woah...RED FLAG time to stop and have a think.

Like, a lot of current trans studies is taking queer studies and just...reconsidering it through a transfeminist lens and sharply pointing out where it just utterly fails.

A great example of this is Sally Haslanger's view on gender.

Trans people have been uneasy with it for YEARS...but only recently has our field been emerging as something that people would dare publish...that our critiques came out...

Sally is an EXTREMELY powerful figure within academic feminism, and feminist philosophy especially. She could have lashed out.

She didn't.

She took it in...over time. And updated her views. She now disavows that view that was once CENTRAL to feminist work on gender!

Transfeminism just didn't 'exist' per se when Sally wrote that famous paper/chapter.

It's so easy to achieve prominence and think that it guarantees one some level of reverence and 'respect'

Fuuuuuck that. No one is off limits.

67.png

There was basically an ENTIRE conference on THAT topic...and it was seriously an entire conference that ended up being about where my view was lacking.

And it can be hard to hear it...especially IN PERSON. But...mostly I was like, YEAH, FUCK THAT VIEW! GET 'ER!

These colleagues (almost all of whom I knew, some I did not) were critically engaging in my work and showing shortcomings. I agreed so much that in my follow-up article on gaslighting as a cause of PTSD I prefaced the entire paper with corrections to my earlier paper

And explicitly gave credit to people at that conference for helping me refine and develop my view further. I learned a LOT those two days.

I suspect this is the paper that has caused the Twitter backlash... https://arxiv.org/pdf/2101.09869.pdf… I mean...this is what applying more radical frameworks just looks like a lot of the time.

Look, if you didn't adopt a radical Black feminist lens (or, goddess forbid, a radical Black transfeminist lens) for your view...your view is going to come out the other side REALLY different...and it may not feel good to be on the receiving end when YOU thought you were radical

If I had to diagnose what's going on here, I bet that's it.

Safiya took herself to be doing something radical (she was), but someone doing something even more disruptive and radical is scary and 'unkind,' and not 'constructive,' but mere 'destructive.'

...and...well, that's kinda literally radical Black feminism's point!!

That intersectionality fucking matters and that multimarg people's critiques are treated more harshly than those with more social power.

Like, YOU'RE DOING THE THING that a radical Black feminist lens predicts you will...

...sooooo...QED??!

got this shit ALL THE TIME as an up-and-coming radical transfeminist.

ALL. THE. TIME.

But then I got famous and people started giving me way more respect. They're far more likely to actually sit with the hurt that I might be causing through my analysis.

tl: dr but I’m confused. The doctor’s treatment of the fat fuck was poor because the treating doctor hates treating trans women, but it was a leg injury and Rhys maintains he is a “totally stealth passing as woman not obvious troon” so how did the doctor know? *
* the giant 17 kg Christmas hams that Rhys affectionately calls his thighs parked on the gurney was the first clue.
The huge square jaw under those fat wrapped cheekbones the second.
Everything he said and everything he did since admission. Rhys is right. The doctor knew.

The doctor knew. Everybody who is sane knows. Most important of all is the troons do know they are not women. Even after taking pills, chopping man bits off, and spending months to years imitating a womans voice, they are still men physically. All that effort with no result and the background issues never dealt with properly. This is how you end up with an angry man, wearing a dress, in a womans restroom, with a fucking sword.

As someone with an actual degree in Japanese, Rhys' bullshitting about studying Japanese really makes me MATI. Ideally you need to learn kanji asap because nobody is gonna write or understand sentences purely written in hiragana, that's retarded. And if he's serious about learning it, 1 kanji per lesson is not gonna get him anywhere. Idk Duolingo's course, so maybe it would be better if they included the reading above the kanji, but not using kanji at all and then just throw them into one level is just stupid. And if he only wants to learn how to speak (or listen), maybe Duolingo is not the right course for him. And if it's really 2,000 kanji in the course, it would cover ALL regular-use kanji, which seems over the top.

Oh noooo something else that 16 stone sack of shit is kidding himself about. Just once Rhys I would like you to demonstrate knowledge of, proficiency in, a passing demonstrable clue as to how something actually works. Not how you think it works, not how you think it should work, but how it is. In point of actual fact your greatest success is on the bike, but you couldn’t stay in your lane and be a pretty good rider, you had to cheat so you could claim to be the best. You are a “topper”. We all know one, the person who has to claim to be the best at, or have expertise in whatever is being discussed. Unfortunately you’re not just boring a few workmates, acquaintances, professional friends, (therapists) and all your living relatives, you’re boring the world. Die mad.

Wish we knew Rhys’s online poker handle (and yes, pretty sure he only played online). PL:I have friends in the pro poker world who could dismantle his boasting at a glance.

He played for six years total, and for two of his years it was the only thing he did— when was this? Was he so cruising through grad school that he didn’t have to do any actual work and could set his giant brain on coast? It happened during his engagement and marriage, so was his wife paying the bills working a real job while Rhys played online all day? Anyone got a timeline for this?

He's also wrong about medicine (isn't he always?). There are very good reasons someone is deemed "too fat for surgery": it's often because general anaesthesia carries risks and those are hugely amplified if the patient's fat. You have the weight pressing down on everything, they might be difficult to intubate with all the fat in the way, they get acid reflux and apnoea when they're lying down, they might not be able to get enough ventilation and oxygen, and they could rapidly desaturate and die. They need monitored extra carefully when they're coming round after the operation too, for the same reason.
With a lot of surgeries they'll do them under local anaesthetic if they can, but that isn't completely risk free either and is still significantly more dangerous for obese patients. They have to use extra long needles to find the spine (if they're doing an epidural) and have difficulty finding a good site to inject since the fat gets in the way, and they have to be careful with the dosage since it varies from the amount you'd use for someone of a healthy weight. Plus I doubt many troons would want to be awake for their stink ditch and bolt-ons installation.
That's not even getting into post-op care, under moobs and fupas are already difficult to keep clean if the patient's very fat, and if they're diabetic or have poor circulation it's much harder for them to fight off infections. Adding surgical wounds in those places is going to cause havoc for the poor patient afterwards.

If troons are actually built out of sunshine, giggles, and the world’s strongest titanium, does that mean we can finally stop all of these bullshit bone density studies for men that want to guzzle horse piss? Can we abandon the effort to create serology standards for these freaks that want to go spinny?

For all of their bitching about evil doctors, they seem blissfully unaware of how far the medical world has bent over backwards to try and make sure these pantodames are able to live out their fetish in a way that doesn’t result in some accidental creation of a novel form of the five point exploding heart technique. If your doctor is pointing out that the hormones you’re abusing are fucking with your bone density to the point you’ve got a fracture you wouldn’t normally expect, you’d do well to listen to them.
Loss of bone density is a big deal - it’s not just the stereotypical leg fractures, if your spine starts to crumble you’re in for a lifetime of agony, on top of the fractures, hip issues, joint issues, risk of major bleeds when that femur goes, etc. And it’s not just ‘adult’ hormones. It looks like the puberty blocker drugs seem to stop bone being laid down, and about half the adult bone density is normally put down in puberty. Troons who trooned out with blockers as teens are setting themselves up for a lifetime of pain from crumbling spines and breaks. I don’t know if there’s a significant literature yet on bone density issues in transwomen, but reducing your bone density from ‘able to support massive hulking male frame’ to ‘not’ is probably a quick route to the fracture clinic.
It’s such a goldmine of new research opportunities!
So yes, ‘please stop taking oestrogen’ is indeed a valid thing for your doc to say.

Could be. Or could be poor posture, weight, and a million other things, but you do not want low bone density. There was one a while back on the tranny news thread boasting they’d lost two inches in height since taking oestrogen. Like it was a good thing and part of them magically turning into a lady - in reality, the only way you lose 5cm height as an adult is spinal changes; compression, crumbling, or deformation. Height changes are also seen in long distance runners who can temporarily lose a cm or so from repeated impacts in a race, and in astronauts, when the lack of gravity allows temporary upwards expansion of the spinal column. The elderly can also lose height as the spine bows, density drops, or the typical kyphosis seen in old age. Those changes are measured in a couple of cm. 5cm loss in two years in a non elderly adult would have you off for an x Ray to see what the hell is wrong with your spine.

These mental cases live for attention and sympathy. Just imagine the points it can earn if it is proven to actually be crumbling inside its dad bod. They would do it on purpose, for sure.

It just goes to show you how none of these people really read up on any health consequence that blocking/taking hormones have other than the hugbox of that it's totally going to transform you into a hot uwu anime girl. Then again, considering the nightmares we see in the GRS threads and the ensuing delusion that people who've dedicated their career to female anatomy "can't tell the difference"...

LOL, sure it's your dream job. Honestly, I hope he gets it since he'd actually be required to do actual WORK, something that he seems allergic to.

In my experience/powerlevel, most "trans"-claiming people in medical settings don't take hormones. They are just crossdressers, or if they are post-op, old enough that even if they were women they would not be approved for post-menopausal HRT.

It is why they get so mad when "thing likely caused by hormones" is pointed out. They don't want to admit they haven't been taking the hormones, but they also don't want to admit the "trans" is an act.

If Rhys is taking estradiol-suspended-in-oil injections like he claims, it will impact his weightlifting and cycling not to mention his nascent handyman business - it is injected in upper arm, hips, buttocks or thighs, and a stab wound is a stab wound, however thin the needle.

Our subsugatory doctor probably just lies about everything.

I also have an interesting, if a bit offtopic story about obesity:

One time I was involved in the aftercare of a very obese patient who had abdominal surgery.

Under ordinary circumstances, the patient would have been considered too obese for the surgery in question, but this was an emergency situation following an MVA.

Apparently in this specific situation, the surgeon had to perform an improvised liposuction just to get to the relevant organs and have skin thin enough to be sutured together without using upholstery techniques or something. Visually, it looked like someone ran a sewing machine on a gathered foot setting.

Liquefied fat seeped out from the sutures and dripped all over the bed and the floor. It was at first opaque and pus-like, then became yellowish like the colostrum birthing mothers leak.

When the sutures were taken out, fat continued to ooze out of the suture holes for another 2-3 months, according to the patient.

Afterwards, the patient looked like they had a chunk taken out of their side, or like a car thats caved in a bit. It never stopped them being "fat" though.

Back
