I didn't keep up with it past the first season but I did enjoy that first season.

I miss the honestly and lack of bullshit 2000s media often had when compared to today, it's incredible to think of something revolving around what it means to be black in America and it not being total, utter bullshit like it would be today.

"and now I'd like to talk about Soul Plane."

My favorite episode is the flashback documentary of Robert during the 60's and when he gets roped into a protest he didn't want any part of.
That was in season 4 and it really flanderized Robert Freeman as a character. Season 1 Robert was consistently pro-Civil Rights and was never a coward. If anything, if he was more of a coward, he probably wouldn't have fought Stinkmeaner in the first place.

This show was the only thing critical of Obama that wasn't Fox News.
And they got top talents like Samuel L Jackson, Charlie Murphy, and Snoop Dogg on the regular. I think I read madhouse helped with the animation and character designs too. It really was an all-star production.
maybe a leftist
I assume this is facetious. A leftest doesn't cut it, Huey is beyond left.
Haha blacks be so dumb that you've gotta make an anime to teach them something.
and now I'd like to talk about Soul Plane.
Soul plane was exactly as bad as the crack epidemic for the black community. I dare you to watch it.

Didn't Robert say over and over again that Stinkmeaner was a pushover and kicking his ass would be easy?

One of the best things about 'The Boondocks' is that it isn't animated like purile shit like 99.9999% of the Western 'adult animation' shows. Its actually well animated, which adds to the humor and commentary.
I did not noticed that McGruder adapted an anime style with The Boondocks.

The fighting and actions scenes are top notch.

This one is my personal favorite.

When radio host Charlemagne Tha God isn’t too busy having 6ix9ine letting his nuts hang on his radio station that one time, he actually received the O.K. from Aaron McGruder himself to let him post some new comic strips that he was working on over the years:

You can sense some of the sentiments that were shown in these strips:

-McGruder making fun of MSNBC for Russian collusion with Trump narrative failing
-Uncle Rucks playing the role of Trump’s PR secretary
-Riley (slightly) getting softened while claiming that he wants a “Real Nigga©️™️“ as President
-Huey slightly being used as a serious character but is relegated in the background
-Grandad not allowing R. Kelly being played in his household, but allowing Michael Jackson songs to be turnt up loud

All in all, this is proof that if The Boondocks does come back in 2022, one will fear that it will suffer the same type of Trump Derangement/possibly slight Biden Derangement Syndrome that will be pushed by the higher ups to make McGruder force himself to inject politics that will be hit at an all time high. It won’t be as watchable as it was back in the mid 2000’s to early 2010’s.

Also, you’ll notice that there is some strong anime influence with the way how the characters now look.

In this case, HBO Max even showed the new character designs for Huey, Riley and Grandad:

It looks like it could be really bad in a funny way, or good in a not so funny, but amusing way.

"People of darkness." That's a good one. :story:

Why would McGruder suffer from TDS/BDS? If you recall from his older comics and show, he was critical of Bush and Obama. I don't see it past him to be critical of Biden and Trump. Although, I can see fatigue of Trump jokes because it's been done to death with little success or tact.

The new art style is a bit ... bubbly. It'll take some getting used to from the last season. Remember the original comics had a radical art change from the TV show.

It was, but the moral of the story (in the first episode anyways) was to not start that fight in the first place "and let insurance handle [the accident]." Robert doesn't, fucks up and humiliates himself, gets into a bigger fight that kills Stinkmeaner, and gets lucky the boxing permit freed him from liability. As shown in that episode, the white guy saying "Wait a minute! I'm white!" had the right, albeit racist, idea.

And really, either beating up a blind guy or losing to a blind guy is just losing all around.

This needs to be preserved for posterity. I cannot stress this enough.

I will give credit where credit is due. I refuse to believe that one way or the other this reboot is going to be forgettable.
On one end it can be good. Because of current year is not going to be as good, but it could be good nonetheless even if it means it gets cancelled by the current black elite (Pelee, Duverney, checkmarks)
On the other end, it can be bad but even then it will go down in flames and be something worth doing unlike Animaniacs or PPG because there you have a legit argument the comedy is supposed to make you feel uncomfortable.

so before Ava Duverney cancels it I want to state that she is the manifestation of the white saviour complex as a black woman and I hope she is not actually pulling a Tyler Perry. Thank you and good night.

I know I wax nostalgic a lot about the 2000s but the idea that anything in black culture was willing to be self reflective, self critical and self satirical really is an incredible concept today.

Boondocks had plenty to say about "the man" as well but the fact that that wasn't all it had to say is just the polar opposite of today.

But that's how everyone rolled in the 2000s, trying to keep it real, trying not to be full of shit, it was the climate of Dubya lying about Iraq and thus lies leaving a really sour taste in everyone's mouths and making everyone interested in getting to the truth of everything.

But somewhere along the way it all went wrong and it all became about nothing but lies, lies, lies, lies, lies.

The Boondocks reboot is probably going to be the polar opposite of the original show.
