Could you post more details about this, if you remember where you read it from?
If there’s literally already a phalloplasty procedure for men where the fake penis is crafted from stretched-out arm skin, why the fuck isn’t it used? My immediate assumption would be that the procedure doesn’t allow for a urethra to be constructed so of course it isn’t good enough for the trannies, whereas a man who lost his penis due to disease or traumatic accident would be happy to settle for less.

I'd assume it has to do with the fact that the basic anatomy is still there even if you for some reason have lost your pee-pee. So I imagine for that reason alone it's easier to "reconstruct" something that actually resembles a penis.

By my powerlevel, I shall deliver the paper that answers all of your questions.
The TL;DR cheat sheet:
1. Every reconstructive phalloplasty is considered a unique and situationally tailored procedure and the utmost care is taken in preoperative measures, because the overall aim is to restore function. Troontubes, lol not so much, not like these ppl will know what true function is.
2. It is the current trend that a phallo be completed in one go, and not over several separate sessions.
3. Nerves are harvested along with the leg flaps to aid in sensation, and leg flaps better mimic the rigidity of the penis even without an erectile device. This is harder to do on the arm.
4. Multiple donor sites allow for harvesting enough flesh for a glans and so on, while most arm flesh only makes enough for the shaft and neourethra.
As an aside, there is a correction issued for an earlier paper that claimed genital butchery reduced need for ongoing mental health care.
Makes you really wonder what anyone thinks the surgeries are for.

I originally wrote a novel as gender quacks get me MATI enough to sperg, but you are extremely lucky if your genital butcher is even a plastic surgeon. I doubt any plastic surgeon would touch this shit with a ten foot pole. As I said before any old jackass can decide to do gender quackery, and there isn’t a gender residency or fellowship. An ENT wouldn’t give you cardiac bypass, but the same ENT sure can give your 17 year old daughter a mastectomy.
Gender quacks are usually people whose ambitions didn’t pan out, or if you’re Marcy Bowers, that OB-GYN that your female friends warned you about.

So this is suggestive for recipients of this surgical intervention being a) cognitively on a different level compared to outside observers if not face blind (genital blind?) and/or coping hard by being glowingly positive.
The latter would be amusingly ironic to me, given that it is something I see often with females, who curtail their disappointment or refrain from even acknowledging said disappointment by outwardly being positive (if I say the opposite hard enough I will not feel shit about it).

Well that's what the plastic rod and the ball pump are for. Press the pump inside the fake balls, the rod gets erect and penetration is possible...theoretically. But if you have a giant flesh sausage that is twice as big as a coke can the rod can bend/break more easily but it can happen even with a normal sized arm sausage.

She says she didn't do any hair removal treatments and doesn't plan to. "I'll just shave it

She's unhappy with her "ugly balls" and in a lot of pain from the skin graft sites. She clarifies that her neopenis was made from an arm skin graft (RFF), and the leg skin graft was a shallow one done to cover the arm.
She also says she went with Dr. Crane because he's willing to do everything short of installing an erectile device in the stage 1 surgery. Most doctors (iirc) don't do glansplasty and scrotoplasty in the first surgery.
Says she's been bleeding a lot from the tip of her neopenis (uh oh... foreshadowing). The surgery was covered by insurance, but she still has to pay about $10,000 out-of-pocket.
Wound vac removed from arm. Says it really hurts (I'm shocked!). Also says she smells bad despite showering daily.

Still in a lot of pain, especially when she pees. She's irritated that commenters are shit-talking Dr. Crane, lol. But who can blame them?
