The UK media is a shitshow of stories that headline with fear and doom then half way through the tripe there are conflicting bits, and then a quick reminder of doom and fear. The headfuck is reading this shit and the news comes on the radio with the opposite of everything you are reading. Throw in some doctored graphs and numbers presented in a way that makes not at all scary, into scary, and you get a shed load of plebs taking to social media. Our government does nothing but react to social media so i doubt, very much, we will get the gringe sounding, "freedom day", on the 21st.
I like mentions of positive cases going down because there is less testing. ok that makes sense. You do not, however, see mentions of case numbers rising because of a huge increase in testing. I am in an area with less tham 20 per 100,000 positive cases and alot people, in this county, have been carrying on pretty normally, for ages. I am pretty damn sure you could find more people with worse transmissable things in that 100,000. I am also very sure that if they decided to ramp up testing in this area they also find 10's of thousands of people, with trace amounts of covid that are actually fit and well, and generate more scary numbers. If this Delta variant is as easily passed as we are led to believe then it is utterly impossible that it isn't, absolutely, everywhere by now. Utterly impossible with so many people jammed into a small area with the transport of people and goods that is going on, constantly.
The scale of testing that is being done oop north is impossible to do everywhere, but more importantly it will not happen, even if it could be acheived. It would really get the noggin joggin , amongst even the thickest pleb, if they saw a country with, perhaps, 30 million positives yet only a teeny weeny handful in hospital. They are all mostly young, and in the actual words of nhs spokespeople, 'not as unwell as older people, back in the winter, and in and out quite quickly'.
It's like the doom and gloom, about India, that was filling the media some weeks ago. Maybe you heard the indian doc on the radio news, who was speaking from Dehli maybe, who straight out said that only about 20% of the people turning up at the hospitals are actually ill and the majority of those are not bad enough to be kept in.
I think he was, basically, pleading with british indians and those listening to british radio, in India, to calm the fuck down. Some people started raising the point, here and there, that as a population the UK had it far worse, back at our peak, than india had it. It only took a day, or two, and all the Indian news fairly dried up.
It is all bollocks. Maybe in a few years when we have just accepted x more people dying each year, and those we have sought to protect now have passed away, we will wonder what the fuck we did faced with loads of young people having heart problems and millions of women not being able to go full term. It is all guesses and wondering, at the moment, what the future holds.
