Okay, this is going to kinda be a big post. Let me begin with some context: remember when I tracked down all of the EN girls' Steam accounts months ago as I've mentioned here before? Well, there was one thing that I left out: I also searched for their roommates' accounts. I was largely unsuccessful with this, but I did end up actually finding one: Karen's.

At the time, I didn't really think it was worth writing up an entire post here for it since it's kinda irrelevant and unimportant. But, since there's now a bit of new discussion about Karen's accounts, I decided to go back and take another look at her Steam.

After taking a closer look at it today, I've just discovered something entirely new that hasn't yet been documented at all, at least to my knowledge: I found an undocumented alias that Karen went by for at least some period of time, as well as an indie game that she created art for under said name.

The Steam account in question is named kcalanii. Not only does this account have the last name from the doxes, it also has the custom Steam URL of "DemonDice". The account location also says she's from Texas. Here's the link, as well as an archive of the page from 7 months ago.

Now this is where things get super interesting. She is only a member of one group named Novel Tea. Their bio says this:
1626122033713.png (Here's an archive from April 19th, 2015)

The first thing I did from here was follow the Steam Greenlight link to find more information, since the website appears to be down and I'm too lazy to go through their Twitter.

What I immediately noticed was that the art from the game looked suspiciously like Karen's early artstyle.
1626123355470.png1626123375276.png1626123411568.png

From here, I went to the Announcements tab and found the Kickstarter for the game as well as all an unlisted "Visual Novel" with 358 views on YouTube.

At the end of the video, the credits start to play (27:28 specifically). I thought I had reached a dead end when the character art was credited to someone named "Camomile" and not Karen, but I kept going because this was lining up too perfectly to just be a coincidence.
1626124680220.png

And lo and behold, on the Kickstarter page I mentioned, I found this under the team section. It's slightly different than 'Camomile', but still pretty much the same.1626125014730.png

When you click on it, guess where it leads you:
1626125062736.png:story:

The page is down currently, but there are 12 captures available on the Wayback Machine. Not ideal, I know, but there aren't any captures on archive.ph.

The latest archive looks like this, in case you have any doubt:
screencapture-web-archive-org-web-20160506154912-http-calanii-deviantart-com-2021-07-12-17_28_11.png
(Also, completely unrelated, but here's a list of 6 archives on the Wayback Machine of that webcomic she mentioned in her bio above. I haven't gone through to check if the comic pages themselves are still intact, so your mileage may vary - I just wanted to make sure it's here for posterity.)

So, TL;DR - Mori/DemonDice/Karen went by the name Camomile/Chamomile for at least some period of time. She made art for an indie game entitled Runeous that was developed by an indie team known as Novel Tea.

There might be more to find with this information, so do with this what you will. If I've missed anything, let me know and I'll edit this post to add the relevant information. But for now, I think I've had my fill of autistic investigating for today.

EDIT: Courtesy of @7FgGg7gvwAwkCRT, I bring you some truly terrifying images of (presumably) Karen.
I don't even know what to say about this, I'm beyond words.

Shit, dedication. Props bud, interesting find.

I know I'm late to this, but Gura is playing Asseto Corsa? Can safely say I didn't see that one coming.
Luna played Forza Horizon so Asseto corsa is the less weird thing they can play

She talked about liking and wanting to stream racing games along time ago.
She also talked about streaming Gamecube games, but no one know what exactly she is going to play the bets are on Super monkey ball (that korone already played), Donkey konga (because hur) or Eternal Darkness for Halloween

Edit: Marine just got a Blue Upa in 40 minutes, called it MMGO Kizuna Blue eyes white dragon

Meanwhile Kanata beats statistical odds by breeding over 3000+ upas and still not getting a blue. Poor PPT

Unrelated note, why are indies and smaller companies able to add one-off props that are anchored to their L2D model and move with it, while Holos always add props directly to the screen and they stay static? You'd think at least Ame would be able to figure it out, unless it's some stupid contract/licensing thing with the riggers, like not being allowed to "modify" the L2D.
The answer is relatively simple. Hololive and Nijisanji have their own proprietary Live 2D capture software while companies like Kawaii 5 Productions or Phase Connect are probably using something like (ie: )Facerig or something which probably has features like adding jpegs onto yourself as props.
Why Anycolor or Cover haven't invested into adding that feature to their rigs is either a mystery or just being Japanese Companies.
Seconding what Wandering Lurker said. Kawaii 5/Phase Connect/your average indie vtuber is likely using VTube Studio, a formerly open-source project that recently got released on Steam earlier this year. In addition to the aforementioned ability to add .png props to your avatar, it also has features like audio-based lipsync/tracking which is pretty neat. Not sure if FaceRig has features like that (especially since the devs for that basically ditched it to work on Animaze, a different face-tracking software). And yeah, no idea why Cover hasn't added a similar feature to their proprietary software either.

As an aside, apparently VTube Studio's creator recently announced that he's quitting his software development job to work on VTube Studio full-time, so kudos to him for having the balls to do that.

Cherry on the cake would be if Cover live2D model is really is layer by layer hence the Gura’s show up on stream “nude” pre debut.
We might never know.
While it'd be hilarious to see the fallout from something like that happening, given how Live2D models are put together there likely wouldn't be any actual detailed nudity shown (unless the model's illustrator + rigger parents are actually super based and took the time and effort to fully draw and rig a nude body version for some reason). From my understanding, the way things like extra clothing/props work in Live2D is you assign a hotkey to toggle their opacity between 0 and 100. So for example Ina's tentacles are technically always "there," she just has their opacity set to 0 so they don't show up.

Very interesting. Was trying to look into the webcomic, but only managed to track down the first 9 pages.

May have stumbled across some interesting pictures of Calli, however...

Initially I thought it would be them opening memberships but after realizing they could've just said "Lazulight event" and also the fact Elira is apparently being a lazy NEET about commissioning her emotes and genuinely doesn't know what to do for memberships, it could be wave 2. I'm tempering my expectations and assuming some sort of merch/voice pack or a new single from them.
Actually, there's another thing; maybe it's just a joke, but that's an awful lot of coincidences, if so. In the spicy noodle eating stream, some retard asked why do they talk so much about Nijisanji, and as part of the sarcasm bit, Finana goes "Oh yeah, we're actually auditioning for the 3rd wave".

Fucking adorable indeed! Forgot to mention in my post just now but the stylus-tracking program in this clip and the one Ina's been using recently are one and the same: Spud Tablet by SadWhale Studios. I feel like there are a lot of cool, fun little extras like this being developed and used in the indie scene all the time, but unfortunately our favorite corpo chuubas would probably have to jump through a lot of hoops in order to use them. Seems like Ina had to get special permission to have monetized streams using Spud Tablet, for example.
