What the fuck, Valhalla Cyberpunk bartending Simulator was made entirely with the last money the Venezuelan government had before poverty and chaos set in and somehow a rando and his autism simulator bankrolled by the CCP and it's legalized slave labor is now a video game darling?

I bet you didn't even know the Rubrix Cube was an Hungarian invention.

You want to fall down a game rabbit hole that you'll never get out of look up what India Indie Devs does.
I guess I'm more interesting in foreign indie games when they are so clearly foreign that it couldn't have been made anywhere else. I played another Chinese indie game called Tales from the Neon Sea and I didn't stick with it very long because it was just cyberpunk game that felt like it could have been from anywhere. I want to see some of that cultural sensibility or what have you. I'm not interested in foreign indie games just for diversity's sake.

The only thing I don't like about Sseth is him being friends with Yithani who even appeared via steam messages in an older video or two.

https://steamcommunity.com/id/yithani

Yithani is the worst kind of furry drama fag, the kind of dude who goes around bragging how good he is at socially manipulating people and taking down thier servers but then throws a hissy fit if shit doesn't go his way. Basicly the kind of faggot we'd have a thread on if he had any amount of fame.

Been burning mad hours into Starsector since your review, bud.
Good shit.
@SsethTzeentach has excellent taste. Modded Starsector is beyond addictive. I'm kind of sad that Neutrino, DME, and BRDY aren't up to date, because the game seems somehow incomplete without them. The game's mechanics have changed substantially in the 8 years I've played it. Way back in the day, captain skills were different and ship crews could become more experienced over time with a veterancy system. Colonization didn't exist, either. Frankly, I'm amazed the modders and devs have stuck with it this long. It still enjoys consistent support simply because of how kick-ass it is. One mod I miss is Knights Templar, simply because they were a really nice boss faction to fight and facing down their ships was always a white-knuckle experience. The creator of DME has made a new mod, Magellan Protectorate, with a similar art style and some very interesting weapons.

psssssssssssst

Praise the Russian Hackers.
Oh wow, thanks!

Oh shit, they even have the "Nazi Mod", New Galactic Order.

Funny bit of trivia, for the unaware; a whole-ass mod and its author were completely banned from the official Starsector forum years ago because he was supposedly a neo-Nazi.

I'm on the Starsector Discord and his name is synonymous with 'asshole'. His ships are just modified sprite from a different game (admittedly used with permission) and he would go on long rants when confronted with how silly his lore was, and demand people help him with his shitty hacked-together code that he refused to actually learn how to do properly. He was banned by Alex himself after he apparently responded to polite requests to not post his lore on the official forums by going on a long tirade about censorship. He is brought up semi-frequently on the Discord and many members like to recount stories about him. He's basically their equivalent of Chris-Chan. In fact, he is so hated that several modders have specifically added code to their mods that scan for NGO content and don't allow the game to even load if it's detected, along with a message saying you either use his or theirs, but not both at once.

I know I'm probably preaching to the choir, but that sounds needlessly petty.

Oh wow, he sounds like an annoying spergs

Tech as advanced enough that pretty much anywhere a person with talent can make something, the problem for the longest time has been trying to have a market place where you could actually put the product up that people would see worldwide and then translate into a language that many people speak, usually English as the most widely spoken. Steam allowing more Asian titles has seen the rise of indies from other countries and even flowed on into stuff like Geshin. They also tend to be outside of SJW control, at least for now because being an American and yelling at Asian devs on twitter won't break that cultural barrier no matter how much they yell.

I do wanna see more indies though Lobotomy Corp is a favorite of mine and I think the Korean market for such things is growing.
I actually quite like Lobotomy Corp. I like how you have to study the entities to figure out how to contain them properly. I just wish it was more of a sandbox tycoon style game as opposed to a barely disguised puzzle game. I'd be down for an SCP tycoon style game in a more realistic horror style. With the mechanics of figuring out how to contain monsters.

Have you tried their sequel? Curious if it's less of a puzzle.

Its basically tumblr/reddit-lite fanfiction.
Its Community is also pretty thread worthy and full of the average redditor scum.
Completely pozzed, what studio isn't these days, and even has a troon artstyle with its spinoff comic: "LC:Wonderlab"

That game actually made a good reason I do want to see more countries with indie game industries. If a western game dev tried something like that, it would either only take one aspect to make the game out of because it's so foreign to them (Feng Shui) or not make it at all so as not to seem racist. This was just the most absurdly Chinese game ever and it was delightful to see. Makes me want to see what other countries could pull off with a thriving indie game scene that a western dev would never even consider just because their worldview isn't anything like that.

It's interesting though that some other developed countries in the east aren't really making indie games and just pumping out terrible mmo crap. A certain country, I won't name names...
S. Korea? South Korea actually has a government that stops them from developing a games industry.

I forget the exact details, but the laws basically push them to create MMOs.

korea used to have extremely strict content censorship laws that stunted industry growth in the 90s and early 2000s iirc.

I don’t think there’s any laws pushing MMOs, it’s Asian fentanyl
I wanted to read about Sseth but you niggers are sperging about your shitty indie game run by trannies.

Kill yourselves.
youre going to be really disappointed when sseth reveals his gender

Don't derail threads by arguing with spergy retards
Yeah, that doesn't inspire any confidence in me, in fact it does the exact opposite.

So basically, you aren't there, you don't know what they're like, you don't have up to date information, and you're mad that your neo-nazi buddy was thrown out for tardraging, and want to blame the community.

Meanwhile I'm telling you what it is actually like based on my own objective experience and you're just going 'nah im right'. Fuck you, you absolutely hypocritical moron. You're just obsessed with your butt-buddy getting shitcanned for refusing to not act like a total sperg.

You can still talk about the mod. You can still use the mod on modern Starsector. It's still updated for the current version, you fucking imbecile. Yet somehow you still think 'omg evil commie community memoryholed muh fave mod that anyone can still play.'

You're actually delusional. Especially since there are other facist mods for the game. The fucking First Persean Empire is a mod that adds a fascist, genocidal, pro-eugenics Faction to the game. Diable Avionics, one of the oldest and most popular mods for StarSector is a pseudo-fascist faction that owns an entire planet of slaves and purges undesirables. Saying that NGO was shitcanned for 'being facist' is laughably retarded to anyone with even the slightest knowledge or objectivity.

Edit: Oh yeah, there's also the Interstellar Imperium, another fascist faction that employs planet-killers and explicitly models itself after the Roman Empire, yet it's also one of the most popular mods.
