Oh, no, it absolutely is because of his poor understanding of gender roles. But it's not because he wants the easy way out. He was already planning on being the house-husband from the get-go.
Chris has this serious hatred for his weird stereotype of men. To Chris, men are everything that's wrong with the world. They're gross and disgusting as well. He is also especially bothered by their dangly bits and even their nipples, despite Chris probably being unable to pick a man's nipple (shaved, of course) out of a lineup of mixed gender nipples. Male genitals remind him that male sex exists, and that really bothers him.
Chris has always disliked men to some degree, and he always just had to deal with being one. Once the possibility of an alternative was introduced to him, he was cautious at first. But when he tried some girly shit, and the sky didn't immediately fall, he dove in.
(The weird thing is that Chris hates stereotypes of men. Not actual men. He was talking with men just fine at omegacon. And of course, Chris can still hate individual women, like Megan.)
