General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
Coco was always a big name in Hololive, but she never really drew crazy numbers for her regular streams (outside of Asacoco, Meme review, etc). So it's hard to tell how well things will go for her in the long run. And I'm genuinely not thinking about this in a numberfagging way, she obviously has high aspirations, but how much of her viewerbase is currently just watching because it's the current fad.
You dont really need that much. Considering the number of members + all the super chats she is fine even if she has half the audience. She also doesnt have to split costs with Hololive.

They (both of them) had a voice reveal and a stream or two of his girlfriend playing Overwatch or something and voicing Zen.
Was that the one where the girl kept calling the dude Zen which leads everyone to believe that the guy is actually Zen (which probably makes the most sense).

I get pissed at Calli when she obvioulsy doesn't give a shit, but pretends she does. I prefer Pippa's honesty but it is still a bit annoying.

Edit, her trying to entertain herself is pretty funny though.
Technically she is obligated to be there during the collab but it all goes to shit when she isnt really enjoying it. Tenma picked up on it and was trying to get her more involved. Everything was super awkward and Pippa atleast tried to keep chat entertained but it all just felt bad.

Tenma praising Pippa for talking so much. This is apparently her doing well.
More like trying to encourage her.

Anime and manga sure do love their Christian imagery, huh?

I dunno, man. She sounds like she's having fun to me.
Christian imagery is pretty cool though. Religion as a whole is pretty gay but the bible has some good passages.

Marine is shocked to find out her fans dont share her fetish of being slapped and chocked.
Felt bad to see 3d waifu get slapped like that.

If she did not cut the video it would have passed but people got loyally pissed for the right reasons, the reaction was literally a warning that if someone hurt her IRL the blood hunt that will start will make the dox in the farms like freaking roblox

In other marine news are you ready to notify everyone in the vicinity you are a simp with the dope, based and superlit case?

Very nice case. I should probably get some decals and paint my black/boring case.

Re-watching this part, now I get what you mean. It's a D2 so the result is either 1 or 2, with 2 as the success. I missed understood it because literally everyone, the players and chat doesn't understand it as well. Still, doesn't change the fact that Mori threw an absolutely softball at Watoto. Two super agitated mythical beast that has been shot and wounded, decide to sniff on the mushroom that was thrown by its enemy? On meta level, she allow Ame to make this roll that doesn't take any stat into calculation; it literally a coin flip. Now I wonder what was her plan had the coin flip fail. She sound exasperated, maybe she decide she gonna hit Watoto with something actually hurt.
Overall though, I think it's a OK session. Mori did well in coming up with stuff on the spot. Ina and Gura was really into the game and RP well. Kiara did better in come up with creative solution. Bonus point for remember that she got useful stuff in her arsenal. I think Ame still leaning to hard into the wild card Watoto character because she hasn't been hit with something bad yet. Mori was too lenient in enforcing bad roll and moral degradation, but she know that. I'm looking forward to the next session.
But seriously? Tiara point a knife into the sniper eyes and threten to gourge his eyes out while Scout totally plan to cut his ear? Doesn't sound like well adjust sane people to me. I don't really know about the WoD system, but at least slap some mental debuff on them for being borderline insane.
That’s why I like the Demon module. ‘Your human morality is an alien concept to me and you insects should be so lucky to worship me.’ In any case, I think she is softballing it to get more fun and investment for diving into it.

If I were the GM and was wanting to softball my players a bit, I probably would have had the roll be "how many dogs eat the mushroom". I wouldn't have told my players this (Actually we probably would have rolled something like Social+Animal Ken to entice the dogs to eat with maybe a contest against the dog's resolve or whatever), but that way, you, at worst, halve the difficulty of the fight by taking one of the dogs out of it. Don't know if that is what Calli planned on doing or if she planned on taking the dogs out of the fight no matter the roll. That's just what I would have done.

As for the spoiler, yeah. They should be rolling integrity and getting conditions for these kinds of things. But, at the same time, conditions are probably just a bit clunky for a stream. Conditions in CofD that are related to integrity breaks don't usually do much on their own aside from encourage method roleplaying, so they might be a bit much for new players who are basically still learning to roleplay in general.

That's a good point about the stream. The girls aren't just playing a ttrpg, they're also trying to create an entertaining stream for the viewers. Maybe that's one reason why they keep going for extreme/crazy roleplaying.

Flare and Noel weren't distancing themselves from it. They made it pretty clear they weren't breaking up. The real issue was that Flare and Noel didn't like being referred to as Husband and Wife. They were shutting down a stereotype of lesbian relationships that made them uncomfortable, especially Flare since she kept being seen as the "man" of the relationship when Noel sees her not as such, but the cutest girl in the whole world. This is strongly indicative of it being a serious thing between them, if them buying marriage rings wasn't clear enough as is (they themselves call them marriage rings).

Fair enough. I didn't see the tweets (I don't follow nor watch them) but I did see ESL translations of her comments that wasn't exactly the most clear.

Still, I'm not too inclined to believe it's legitimate but frankly I also don't care either way. Their relationship is leagues stronger than anything else in the company (and the vast majority of the rest of the industry) but nothing really yet breaking the kayfabe threshold that they've made public knowledge.

Not saying it isn't legitimate, just that I personally don't have much reason to believe it is.

@horni you aren't obsessing over someone's used up vaginal flaps at onlyfans.
It could have been way worse. Insert imaginary pat on the back here.
I might've chotto embellished my post for comedic purposes and I'm not even obsessing that much :optimistic: (never bought merch, sent only few modest superchats and so on), but the point stays.

It's just that relations in my life went horribly wrong (in short, netorare is not my favourite tag) and I had withdrawn from all this mating rituals stuff and got occupied with work and hobbies to the point where I stopped caring. Years have passed, everyone around me got married and has children, I am almost fourty now etc. I started watching vtubers for Japanese listening practice and to see them doing dumb shit, but after few months, after Coco and Haachama's suspension, it dawned on me that I actually care - because when I get home there is a fresh batch of clips and streams where talents are trying to entertain you, to be nice to you and make your day better. And because of that I started thinking it could be nice to have an actual human being waiting for you instead of a computer monitor. It's a delusion of course (beacause with vtubers you usually see only their nice, money-earning side), but a thunk-provoking one.

Wait, didn't we talk about this a while back?

We did, but he ignored this (or forgot our answers then), called you a moron and started rambling about something completely different. I live in a europoor country and I can buy a chainsaw without any license, thank you very much.

Seems to be a rebrand. They're now called CyberDisa.

Putting your disability in vtuber world as a selling point still rubs me the wrong way, but I have talked about this before. Take example from Ironmouse and try to be entertaining/interesting first, without putting up "disabilty pity points here" sign as your group's name before you even debut.

She's better during 1 on 1 collabs but with full PhaCon collabs involving her JP genmates she shrivels up into being socially anxious.
I haven't watched the AMOGUS collab, but I hope Pippe will use it as a learning experience, which I think she already did (she tweeted she will just get drunk before collabs).

I have watched approx. 1 hour of the "Duolingo" stream - she knows some katakana, but that's basically it. As I've said before: apps are not the best way to learn a language and if she wants to get serious about this (and knowing Japanese should be extremely helpful in vtuber world), she should find some proper course or start self-study with textbooks like Genki, Remembering the Kanji and so on. Oh and exploit Tenma for conversations.

Marine is shocked to find out her fans dont share her fetish of being slapped and chocked.
I didn't like that video and I'm glad she read the fans' reaction correctly and reacted appropriately. She also seemed genuinely surprised that viewers like her as an interesting person and not only as a horny pirate sharing her kinks, which is heartwarming.
Quote from the comments under her latest headpatting video: "I can imagine Senchou talking to the 3D animation team like: "sorry guys looks like we won't be using all the S&M models we prepared"

I’m not dismissing anything, rather just a general reminder that there exists a very thin line between a person and a character, between what’s real and what’s playing it up for hungry audience, and to not take this stuff too seriously.
On subject of NoeFlare, if semantics constitutes as a serious problem, I wish every other relationship had such problems.
no need to overcomplicate things, what's some drunken fingerbanging between friends anyways...

there's also the matter of context, all you saw was her getting slapped, seemingly out of nowhere. there's a reason hentai uses ahegao and heart pupils (or so I've heard).

I saw her tweet with the clip where she mentioned it's a fetish stuff (性癖) but all the people who didn't know this were in for a surprise.

Hey Pippa, why not do a stream where you bully kids on Fortnite?

If it helps, the two often commit a lot of PDA in front of the other Holomems IRL. So much so it tends to be a talking point on others' streams.

Soo basically they just want to be each other's wifey, it's cute and it's just another level of friendship above besties but when you start saying shit like wife and husband it makes it more serious than it actually is.

I wouldn't read too much into the marriage rings. Two of my friends got some a year ago with each others birth stones in it and now a year later they both have boyfriends but still very much wifeys/besties. Girls just love jewelry that actually has sentimental value is all.

Bearing that in mind, I've often wondered exactly how thirsty Kiara really is for Calli irl, all kayfabe bullshit aside. I know that pairing was pushed from the start, but she genuinely seems to be someone who fell hard for a co-worker, who subsequently (and probably repeatedly) straight up declined her advances. You can occasionally hear the genuine hurt leak out in Kiara's voice every so often when the subject comes up, and I can't see myself giving her too much credit for being that good of a method actor. She obviously pushes her shipping shit way too fucking hard, and knowing Karen's fucked up past, I can see how uncomfortable she would be with the whole situation.

Keeki has been through some truly fucked up shit in her long, cursed quest for idolhood, and I'm not going to shit on anyone for seeking out love, but Jesus she doesn't know the meaning of the word tact (probably a European thing). She can't possibly be this menhara in real life (one can hope, anyways), but I doubt her idol business experiences have left her a stable individual. I can see her pushing something like this, oblivious of Calli's feelings. I wonder how Karen feels about Kiara's 'way-too-invested' Sims 4 playthroughs?

I genuinely feel bad for how twisted of a life Karen has had to experience, and how she copes (or doesn't cope: shitloads of cheap wine, anyone?) with it. She's headed straight for a life of alcoholism just like both her parents if she doesn't wise up and find a healthier way of coping with her neuroses. I think that's why people perceive her as 'uninterested' in most things. She spends all of her time keeping her feelings locked away, and rarely lets them loose. Too bad it makes her appear too damned stiff and wooden.

Either that, or they are acting geniuses. Maybe they really do deserve Oscars or whatever.

I always saw their pairing and to some extent the extra closeness of their friendship was based on both of them being very uncomfortable about actual relationships, better a fake one the fans are behind, giving them some control over the narrative. The interactions they had during and after their vacation together before Kiara left Japan, was very much a "two friends" taking a trip to a nice place, but it was early and people were high on the shipping so probably saw more in it than was really there. Also they've both had subsequent vacation stories that just accentuated how physically uncomfortable they both are, Kiara maybe even more so as she struggles even around friends, where Calli at least seems to be more comfortable if she knows the people she's around.

Kiara hasn't really been pushing the Takamori ship as much for awhile now, apart from the craziness of the Sims play-through, and the occasional twitter play, it doesn't really come up as often. And though it's not the same kind of "ship" she likes to encourage artwork of her with other members too.

I'm rambling now, but I'll add. Kiara does come from one of the European countries known for it's blunt honesty, so that along with her past has caused the occasional "emotional" stream of her talking about things usually left behind the scenes.

But then again it wouldn't be Hololive if they had normal pasts and weren't as psychologically damaged as the rest of us and could probably do with seeking help from a good psychiatrist/psychologist.

I will now take my meds and crawl back into my hole.

Looks like poor Marine discovered that she has been unwittingly pushing her vocal cords too far and has to be more aware of how she treats her voice from now on.

Way too many singers and other performers have learned way too late that vocal cords can easily develop polyps or just be blown out or shredded by careless abuse over time. At least she's learning now before it's too late.

I'm glad she's seen a professional who's good at their job, and now knows how to minimize the strain on her voice.

Though the community is going to be insufferable again with their talk of how the talents should just use their "real" or "natural" voice, that the western audience has an unhealthy obsession with. Granted I've never liked talking in the first place and being mostly a shut in, but on days where I have to talk a lot it's not hard to lose my voice, so it's not always someone "putting on a voice", and can just be way they developed their talking style can naturally cause strain if used too much.

I will say though that I really hope someone in management is going to start pushing for all the girls to get checked and to see if they can make adjustments to lessen the strain of talking for hours on end almost everyday, regardless of whether they're using their "natural" voice or not.
