iIrc (not sure where I read it, maybe here?), Polka sort of had a problem with the whole streaming thing at the start and even consulted/talked with Yagoo that she prefers recording and producing videos as compared to streaming most of the time. I'm glad circus fennec got what she wants to do, and hangout with friends via streaming.

I remember being first impressed by Polka during their Among Us collab with HoloEN. When talking to Amelia she casually made joking references to the Sherlock Holmes novels, including "Baritsu" - the martial art practiced by Holmes - which is fairly obscure. I understand from some other clips that she's surprisingly erudite.

Maybe the Baritsu thing is more well known in Japan since it was a Japanese-inspired martial art, I don't know, but it's still impressive to bring it up and make a funny joke out of it on the fly.

Polka is well learn and introspective. She's educated and love to read book. One of the moment that seal her place as one of my favorite is when she talk about wanted to become a book binder, someone who bind hard covers book by hands.

Her character is POLarizing. She can be chaotic shitposting clown, but can also be moody and sad Fennec. Both side make up the person she is. Sadly we don't get to see it so much. She's kinda like Marine, who if you only watched popular clip you will think she only one-dimensional hornybaiter, while in fact she's a treasure trove of wisdom and experience. If only Polka got someone who focus on her less energetic side and make clip of that just like Marine.

Edit : Now I remember. There is this one short video Polka made that she make a direct reference to a German(?) short story, where she said "I see, you're that type of fellow then." Can't find it right now, it probably buried under her tweets. While the short story isn't very obscure (it was translate to Japanese as a reading material of high schooler?), the fact that she use it show her character a bit.
Edit 2 : Found it. The short story is called "Jugendgedenken" by Herman Hesse, a German writer in 1930.

Jugendgedenken is a short story from around 1930 by Herman Hesse (German writer and poet). It's based on his own short story Das Nachtpfauenauge from 1911. Based on a friendship with a Japanese professor the short story was translated into Japanese and is regularly published in Japanese school books since 1947. This is why the story and author is known by many Japanese, but less in other countries.
The story is about a man, who is visited by a friend. He is reminiscing about his past, where he avidly collected butterflies. When he was boy, he collected butterflies in an old paper box. He has an elitish neigbour Emil, living next door, who is a serious collector. The protagonist showed Emil his most-appreciated butterfly, but was belittled for it's low quality and value. Therefore the protagonist didn't share any longer his collection with Emil.
A few years later, the protagonist heard, Emil caught a giant peacock moth - a very rare species. The protagonist went to Emil's house to see it, but nobody was there. He entered Emil's room to get a glimpse of this flawless butterfly. He found the insect pinned to a preparation board and was stunned by it's beauty. He decided pick up the butterfly and keep it for himself. Before he could leave, somebody entered the house. Not to be caught as a thief, the protagonist put the butterfly back. The giant peacock moth was heavily damaged, as he carried it in his hand. The protagonist arrived at home and confessed to his mother. She told him he has to apologize to his neighbour and compensate him. He went to Emil to apologize, but Emil was scorning him for the attempted theft. Emil declined any compensation, knowing the low value of his collection and told him "Now I understand. In the end you are a certain kind of fellow. I see". In the end the protagonist destroyed his entire butterfly collection.

Out of all the vtubers my country could muster up to interview they had them. Excellent. Thinking about it though, not like they could get holos on BBC that just yeah not gonna happen.
