Anyone knows what's going on with Terumi and Amber Glow?
The little I understood is that it seems like a drama with doxxing, sharing private conversations, a stream where she talked about black companies, and lot of hate for the OL who some accuse of being a manipulative bitch.

It was a big topic on /r/virtualyoutubers

Key takeaway for aspiring vtubers: If you are struggling with mental health issues or insecurities, please do not sign a contract without understanding what you're getting into. Get a second opinion, at the very least.
Let me know if I've made any mistakes in the following summary.

Introduction
It is extremely common for aspiring Vtubers to struggle with severe insecurity and/or depression. They are desperate for approval and a place to belong. This clouds their judgement, and there are companies which try to exploit this.

4V Live
Terumi accuses that 4V live used a nagging tactic* to try to trick her into signing a bad contract. Terumi was even told that the other girls in the agency did not like her. The contract claims you must cover all your own costs, and also that you can't debut as a different persona for 4 YEARS if you decide to leave the company, and also that you must continue to pay a 20% cut of your vtubing profits to the company even if you decide to leave. Terumi fortunately did not sign the contract.
*A nagging tactic is where someone will try to break down your self-esteem so that you will think to yourself "this deal is the best I can get, because I suck" or even "I deserve this punishment".

Amber Glow Production
Amber Glow Production is accused of being "incompetent", but not intentionally malicious. Terumi is still friends with her manager from this company. Terumi signed a contract with them while she had depression. Terumi claims that "Amber Glow" makes no investment into helping their talents grow. (no emotes, no advertisement, no classes...) The talents do everything, and still pay a cut to the company. Terumi claims to have paid 3000USD to get out of the contract. (edit: If I understand it correctly, she basically purchased, at full price, the things associated with her character. The model, backgrounds, music, etc.)
*I think OP confused negging for nagging.

It's worth noting that 4V initially started as a post on /r/virtualyoutubers after the Aloe incident made by some literal-who wanting to start a v-tuber company that doesn't abuse its talent. Of course, it was a mostly unprofessional affair and failed to do any of what it promised.

edit: the owner of 4V is responding to comments on the linked reddit thread.

this will probably the last time I write it since I don't care that much about numbers: on Saturday I wrote she arrived at 770k subs during her stream. Today she's at 783k. She's still growing.

I'm a unashamed kson numberfag. It blows my mind that she is raking in more viewers than she was as coco (before her graduation announcement). I didn't expect so much quality fanart and enthusiasm from kson-gumi. Her first week of streaming has been a huge success and I expect things to get even better once daiko 3.0 is finished. In one of her mildom streams she mentioned that she is embarassed because she has been facecamming way more than she originally intended to, but didn't want to keep fans waiting. It's cute and heartwarming that such a shy person would go through with that to entertain her fans.

People be here saying that "We shouldn't doxx" acting like they didn't come here for the doxx in the first place.

Relax kiddies, none of the information here had their addresses, or sensitive personal information (aside from a face). Compare that to places like 4ch or lolcow that dug very deep and got Gura's uncle's address.
On a personal level I'm against even posting Gura's name and face since they weren't immediately findable like Calli's or others are. However I know that some dox is inevitable and I can say I'd prefer info be here where people at least have a line instead of /vt/ or something where they find the concept of a line absurd.

The reason why vtubers getting doxed is worse than your average youtuber is because genuinely deranged individuals have been convinced that it is possible to "kill" off personalities they dislike by harassing the person inside. Everyone knows Pewdiepie's real name and where he lives but nobody is coodinating harassment campaigns against him IRL (that we know of) because nothing would come of it besides getting arrested. Felix wouldn't quit youtubing forever just because some stalker is knocking on his door. The same can't be said about vtubers and idols, who do actually get attacked with boxcutters by psycho randos that found out where they lived from the reflection in their eyeball. The idea has already been planted in the culture and is impossible to remove in the same way that school shootings are just "a thing" in American culture now even though there are plenty of other places in the world with guns, psychos and schools that don't have it.

People worryfag because shit like this actually happens. JP antis are on an another level compared to youtuber weens. The level of danger obviously depends based on the situation, location, resilience of the streamer and general mental stability of the fanbase/hatebase but when someone quits for "safety reasons", I would completely understand.

Edit: Another thing that makes vtuber/idol stalking different is that it's often a team effort. Antis will find other antis and reinforce their psychosis. A good example of this is the Coco antis on NGA who were extremely delusional people that formed their entire identity around harassing someone. The Farms sometimes hosts communities like that too, but there's a difference between catty shittalking and planning actual crimes on 5ch/nga/discord. I think stalking groups like this have a lot higher capacity for harm because they have clear objectives (make them "graduate") and goad each other into doing shit that your average loveshy lone wolf might not have the guts to do.

As for posting dox on the Farms, it's not against the rules, but you should keep in mind what the potential consequences are if you like the person you're doxing. Don't be retarded. If it's already on a 4ch archive then the cat is out of the bag and it is pointless to suppress information, but if you are dropping innocent peoples addresses on a site read by crazy people then you should think hard about why you're doing this.

Mori isn't full blown GFE vtuber like Rushia but she still does those kinda streams to give her fanbase that parasocial experience. Do you not remember her date streams from last year? A lot of it was shitposting but there were some GFE moments. Same with her ASMR.
Parasocial work both way I tell ya. Perhaps she's quite lonely herself. Which remind me, saw a clip last night where she express how greteful she is that she's a Vtuber, despite the her uncertainty that this animu girl is too lame for underground rapper like her at the beginning. She also said that Mori is like an escape for when life and "reaping" get too hard. Maybe DemonDice stuff doesn't go well as expected because covid lock down? At the beginning of this year, DD was excited about establishing her own company (maybe record label?), but the year is already at the tail end and we saw nothing from it yet. At least we can probably dismissed the talk that Mori will graduate now that she got simp money to continue her work.
[A well written post]
Completely agree and probably the simplest take. Just because the info is out there doesn't mean you have to promote it. Historian do that and we shit him hard on it. And we are talking about JP land where a few day ago, a man stab 10 people with a kitchen knife and seriously injured one. His reason is just "he want to kill happy woman." Anyone is fine. It's not targeted attack at all. This type is out there, and might one day target the girl you like just because they're famous. Don't make it easy for them.

This is very much true, and goes to show the difference in Western and Eastern cultures. Dox of a random youtuber in the west, wouldn't come to much in all honestly probably. But a select few of the JP folk and what not can be completely unhinged.

Its why when you hear about a crime in jap land, it usually quite a serious thing, as barely anything happens normally in day to day life, but when it does it some guy that like stabbed 20 people because they ran out of rice in the local store (you get the idea, I'm just being dumb at this point)

Also I don't know why but this really reminds me of the film "Perfect Blue". I feel like that the story of that film is way more relevant today than it ever has been.

If anyone, probably Kson. Satoshi Kon is her favorite director and she doesn't shy away from heavy stuff. Still, the film isn't exactly a happy one, so she might not watch it on that ground.

now whos idea do you think it was (kiara and her damn thirst)?

for those who dont know, they manga they talking about is yuri bait.
Looks like it could be fun, I'll try to catch.
And it's probably Kiara's idea. She's the one pushing the TakaMori meme, Calli just seems to go along with it for entertainment purposes.

still not watched this movie. think i will once Halloween hits.
Genuinely quite a thought provoking movie. I watched it many years ago before vtubers was a thing and idol culture was still sort of a big ish thing.

I'd possibly say if no one else has seen "Perfect Blue" and wanted to, now would be the best time as you could apply it to ya vtuber oshi now and really fuck you a little bit extra as you could relate to it more so now than ever before.

Would not be surprised as seen with Polka. She has become more open and "closer" to her fans especially her regulars since she moved. It seems to be pretty far away from her friends.
