I think DESU is the oldest popular thing here, some others might be older but DESU was definitely more well known at the time.

I wouldn't count DESU to be obscure, that's the first thing little kids or election fags(or newer) post other than maybe caturday if they want to be seen as epic oldfags. By obscure I mean something you can't just look up on KYM or find some faggot on youtube make a video on.
If nothing else, this April Fools at least encourages some involvement from the community instead of just doing something stupid and hoping the gimmick will carry it thru.

my only issues with the event are you can only trade 1000 stocks at a time, coins cannot go over 800
so the strat is just to invest everything in a coin that dips below 100 and wait until you get your money back, but this is tedious because of how slow it is to sell/buy.

Completely optional to participate in, practically zero friction with browsing and low actual impact on discussions (outside of someone going "MY FUCKING $ANIME IS AT $3 I'LL NEVER RECOVER FROM THIS" pinkwojak.jpg every now and then), yet interesting enough to hook you in, cute little rewards at a low investment and fun enough to spend time conversing with people over your crashing and burning/to the moon fakestocks, no matter the board.

I had fun, which in itself is a grand achievement for any april fools event in general.

the event is officially over, had a lot of fun going back and forth with people, changing teams when the stocks were viable, spamming your shitcoins memes. the amount of artwork made in such a short time frame was impressive and really tied it all together.

the best part of it all was instead of just ending it suddenly and giving you a highscore, they crashed everything suddenly to $1, honestly really nice life lesson to any of the aspiring investors this event might have created, what will happen to them if they dump 10k into pajeet coin

This is actually something I'm willing to bitch about as well. Certain generals on /tg/ are totally unusable because any opinion that doesn't align with that janny's will get you instantly warned or 3-dayed. Literally entire threads are shit up that he does nothing about because he just favors that flavor of post/game/whatever. It's such a shame since I used to adore /tg/ back in the day, and there's nowhere else but my LGS to really talk about this specific passion of mine that hasn't already been run into the ground. Don't get me wrong, I love my LGSes! I just would like a larger pool of opinions and viewpoints, which /tg/ used to provide...

I still use /tg/. I actually started the Lodoss War thread, since I didn’t see anyone talk about the replays. But I use it much less, considering how much the board has gone to shit. It’s mostly bait threads about niggers and faggots, coom threads, and generals now. The AI slop thread also needs to go- I remember I went on /tg/ one time and saw several AI art threads, only one of which could still post images.

They need to add a couple of AI boards. One for porn and one that isn't. It's not going away and it's still clogging up a bunch of other boards. The blue board would be a dedicated place for not only image generation, but also tech discussion and whatnot.
The jannies would love it because it would give them something to clean up as they can now move any offending threads to the new boards.

All boards have this issue now and it's been getting worse. A big one I noticed, just because of how insane and ludicrous it was, is that one of the /trv/ jannies is presumably Indian or Desi and bans any discussion about tourism to India and prunes the threads. Look up India in the /trv/ catalog right now, you won't find a single thread. I know this because I made a thread a while back about planning a motorbike trip through India and where to go/where not to go and it was pruned and I was given a three-day ban for it. I didn't make any street-shitting jokes or anything.
