After sleepy joe dropped out I checked /pol/ and it was clear literal shills for the DNC are active there.
DNC shill campaigns were in overdrive on /pol/ back in 2016, especially after an anon at Hillary's speech denouncing the "alt-right" yelled "PEPE!" at the request of another anon on /pol/.

I wouldn't be surprised if they're shitting up the board now, too. Seems like a waste of time though, considering there's far less going on over there than in 2016, and the board has lost quite a lot of energy compared to those days.

I went to /v/ last night to see if the new Zelda game had been leaked and holy shit the board is completely unusable. Not a single good thread that wasn't being shat up by schizoposters arguing with each other. It wasn't always like this, right? My memories are real...

Arguing on /v/ is funny, therefore /v/ is more alive than ever.

Not really. It's just a bunch of people trying to troll each other with arguments they don't actually believe, using their annoying buzzwords like "slop" "snoy" and "tendies" I find it aggravating to read and you are genuinely low IQ if you like it.

Maybe you are just growing old, and realized after all of the years you wasted on imageboards that it's just a place where nothing productive gets done? And that 4chan was always just a place where people argued with each other over random things that don't matter?

hell yeah bros i love hiding behind a constant mask of irony and shitposting!!11 always ironic!!!@ never sincere!!1!1 discussing literally anything is for faggot woke trannies lmao xd

Never thought we'd reach this point but we're at reddit mod levels of abuse
inb4 8chan /v/ gets a bump in PPH again, only for the crusty pedophiles that run the place to look at them in disgust and divert them to /vb/ and kill off any momentum that dead board could ever get

Classic threads like sneed threads on /tv/ or baiting some banned book like the turner diaries on /lit/ don't fit the culture of the site now, even if you thought those threads were retarded, but what the fuck else is 4chan besides trolling and memeing? It's undergone a complete and total soyllennial redditization.

4chan used to be a great place to get niche news all in one place. If you were on /v/ you would see a lot of really cool indie games like Minecraft being posted there. /tg/ used to get things done, /m/ was where you would discover new and old shows getting fansubs and organize with other anons to get series you wanted to see subbed. 4chan used to be a very productive place with a lot of high quality content if you weren't reading /b/.

4chan is now just a toilet and it's pretty sad people think it's always been this way.

One of the few threads I've participated in every year has been the Halloween general on /x/. Last year, it was a great time. This year, the threads are being ruined by a couple of assholes relentlessly posting off topic bullshit and some retard spamming uninteresting AI generated WEBMs. This site is unsalvageable. Far too many miserable little assholes who just want to shit up threads for fun.

As I've said before, the mods run the site now. moot at least had a hand in how moderation was done. That's gone out the window ever since he sold it to Hiro.

Whats the best alternative to the /x/ board these days?
There really isn't one. /fringe/ back in the 8chan days was pretty interesting, but it's dead now.

What was the last cultural output on 4chan that penetrated normal social media? I shitposted on /biz/ back in 2018-19 when crypto was down bad. God bless the link marines. There was some real classics that came out of that crypto crash, such as the rise of the pink wojak.

After the pandemic crash when Powell turned on the money printer the /biz/ memes entered the mainstream culture.

What has come out of 4chan since then? All the jaks on reddit and twitter get reposted on 4chan downstream from soyjak.

4chan is an internet cultural desert now because jannies made it that way.

Big criticisms and memes about media go downstream and hit pretty hard. Crabbing is now a word people in finance actually use. It's not a big cultural mover like it used to be and most of the boards are on life support (bellwether generals and weekly culture threads are dying left and right), but it is where reddit goes to say what they really think and it filters back in after a while.

Honestly, the random projects probably have the most impact now. Snoot Game, various VNs, wikis, apps. That and the kind of crowdsourced SIGINT /pol/ or any other board can pull off when there's a headline.

This problem is worse on slower boards like /an/ where there are "personalities" that are even worse than namefags., exemplified in the "Paleoschizo Phenomenon." These personalities, like Paleoschizo, don't tripfag or namefag but because they have a specific axe to grind or post about specific topics, there are leeches that follow them around and throw shit at them to provoke them into sperging. This has a down-wind effect where people who have similar thoughts on a subject get called this person, even if they aren't. It's incredibly annoying, unfunny, and honestly quite Reddit.

I remember a similar thing happening on /ck/ where any time anything vaguely mentioning America was brought up (even to the extent of mentioning fucking cheese without even bringing up the US), this one dedicated autist would begin shitting up the thread with rants about amerimutts and random political infographics.
There’s a good chance it was just a bot like a lot of the Barneyfag impersonators that were common near the end of /qa/‘s existence, but regardless it would always end up derailing the thread with retarded /pol/ tier shitflinging.

What was the last cultural output on 4chan that penetrated normal social media?
Arguably all the "meme warfare" performed by /pol/ during the 2016 presidential election. Anything else pales in comparison. 4chan hasn't had any cultural impact since then.

It doesn't help that the quality and creativity of the anons themselves is absolutely in the toilet. Just look at the overall post quality on almost any board.
