Depends on where you are. My last stent was on /trash/ lurking in a few generals. 90% of spam came from one sharty faggot sitting in Discord 24/7 with his friends and attacking regular posters who contributed content. These tards would regularly post about how great said faggot was and how all of the femanons wanted to fuck him. It would have been humorous if it wasn’t so pathetic.

Tech debt if you want to label it like that. A better way to put it is that they're just lazy retards that don't give a shit. Do you really think they'd never had updated their software if they cared about security even a tiny bit?

Updating software stacks isn't trivial. You often need to go in and rewrite code to work with the newer stuff and this is especially true on PHP where even minor version bumps can completely break common libraries.

It is quite literally tech debt and it's obvious that gookmoot wasn't putting enough resources into maintenance.

Honestly, I hope 4chan stays down for good. It offers nothing good to the table anymore with no worthwhile content in sight, and it fails as a containment site since it's so dead and most of the people there are discord/reddit/twitter niggers anyways. It's better to put it down and hope something better comes along, I survived the original exodus and the modern 4chan users will have to as well. If nothing better gets created and everybody scatters to the winds or bickers amongst themselves and no better alternative is created, then maybe the format of imageboards itself has outlived it's usefulness.
Either way, for what the mods did to 4chan, especially recently with the timers? Good riddance. I'm glad it was sharty that did the killing blow as well, it's own retarded child that was exiled for triggering the poor trannies came back with a vengeance and did what tumblr and countless others couldn't do.
