It would be a huge waste of money to pay for a storage unit to store that stuff, considering how badly her apartment reeked of animal pee. She probably just left it all at the old apartment for the landlord to dispose of, since there's no way she's getting the security deposit back.
I very much doubt it was her security deposit anyway.
Everything she says about apartments etc is pure smokescreen. No ID, no credit history, no continuous job history, no established bank account, no previous rental history and no solid income - all of which were the case when she and Dustin got that place - makes Amber a big fat zero in terms of a lease. A half-way savvy landlord isn't even going to look at her uchoob bux; unless you have a big lump sum, previous history and promise of good, continuous employment you're not getting on a lease.
The reality is likely that Dustin simply added A to her bank account, providing a back-door to getting her own account later. And if A even signed the lease, it was pretty cosmetic. Its very likely that Dustin signed primary, possibly with a guarantor, and she's the one liable. Amber doesn't give a toss about leaving a mess behind for someone else to sort - plenty of us thought she was skipping on the rent.
And she'll have faced all the same obstacles this time round. I doubt she even looked for an apartment cos she was inveigling her way into Beck's place from the off (remember her cleaning/laundry what-a great-asset-I'll-be-to-your-household schtick? How transparent can you get? Suddenly she's Mrs.Mop in front of Eric etc when the only mention of housework ever before was her telling Destiny to do something!) But if she had, she'd have needed a primary signatory and/or guarantor. The pets were far less of an issue - and a far more negotiable one - than the fact she has no solid financial base at all. Would you risk leasing to someone who looks that bad on paper? She is virtually the archetype for a lousy tenant, red flags everywhere. And that's before the landlord of the place she just did a flit from sees and smells the state of the place - somehow, I can't see her getting a glowing report. But that's Destiny's problem....
I would love to know how into this Becky really is, or if she has been ground down with emotional blackmail. If she really wanted to live with A, they'd have got their own apartment and at least this way she has safety in numbers, even if A does appropriate her roomies. I wonder how many "what am I going to doooooooo" whines she withstood before cracking?
But there is a shiny side. The shit-fest when this goes tits up will be glorious!
Edit for fergots; wonder what all the sofa-shopping was about? Generally if you rent a room you don't buy anything but hedroom furniture. A sweetener to "persuade" them? Or are they being opportunistic enough to at least get new furniture out of this?
